Jobs for independent employers could not be accurately split into „private‟ and „voluntary‟

as they were in previous years as this information is not collected by the Care Quality

Commission (CQC). Estimates from the NMDS-SC suggest that approximately 75%

(890,000) of the jobs for independent employers were in private establishments (around

57% of all jobs) and 25% (305,000) were in voluntary establishments (around 20% of all

jobs), see Chart 5.1.
