Piedmont’s wineyards
,
Piedmont means excellent cuisine, wonderful views, dotted with medieval villages,
and the royal Turin. .. and probably the best wines. Barolo, the king of wines, aged in
barrels. It is a meditative, intense wine, to be sipped slowly. Barbaresco, also made of
Nebbiolo grapes, is the lighter version of Barolo, also worth the appreciation. Barbera
is another rich red wine with a strong flavour. And then the Moscato d’Asti.
Arrive in Turin – the city hugged by the Alps, collect your rental
car, and reach your hotel. The hotel is located in the centre,
between the most famous landmarks and the River Po. Be
amazed by the historic squares, the noble palaces, and the little
historical cafes under the arcades.
After the visit and wine tasting proceed to Acqui Terme, a
town of the thermal waters and cobblestone streets. See
the Bollente – a natural hot water spring standing in the
centre of the town.
Check out and reach your airport for a return flight.
FIT PACKAGES – AUTHENTIC
Turin still has plenty of things to offer – in the morning your have
some time to visit one of the attractions – the Royal Palace, or the
the Mole Antonelliana tower.
In the afternoon reach the Langhe Wine region – miles and miles
of rolling hills covered by the vineyards. Stop in Alba, the town of
the “hundred towers”, to have a stroll through the picturesque old
town, home of the International Truffle Fair.
Your hotel is located not far away from Langhe. Check in.
Some of the “musts” for this day – Neive, Barolo and la
Morra. . Neive is located close to Alba and has been declared
one of the most beautiful villages of Italy. La Morra – the
Balcony of the Langhe, and Serralunga d’Alba. Last but not
least - Barolo, a pretty town of the Barolo Wine. You can visit
the “Enoteca di Barolo” – a wine shop in the Falletti Castle,
where you can buy and taste excellent wines from the region.
Dinner at a local restaurant (trattoria) – the dinner consists of
various dishes, to let you appreciate the cuisine. And the view on
the vineyards will make you forget about everything else.
Monferrato is another well-known wine region. Stop in Asti,
a town with a historical centre of great value. The town used
to stand on an important route between Turin, Milan and
Genoa.
Proceed to Canelli, where the first Italian sparkling wine was
born, under the ground - in the underground passageways,
so-called cathedrals. This is where Moscato d’Asti comes
from.
Apuglia & Matera
illusion & reality
Enjoy your journey in Apulia, to visit the stunning villages on the coast as
Polignano Mare or in the hinterland, and to admire the typical dwellings trulli in
Alberobello. The tour ends in Matera, town of caves and the European Capital of
Culture 2019.
Arrival and check into your hotel, located in Ostuni.
Time permitting, take your time to visit the charming village
Ostuni which seems plunged into dazzling light, into the
brightness of the whitewashed houses that make it resemble
Greece or Spain. Be fascinated by the amazing architecture of the
town, its narrow lanes, uphill roads and old portals.
Today you will reach Matera, a town that has emerged from the
shadows and that will become more and more popular as in 2019
it will have the title of the European Capital of Culture.
With the local guide you will visit the town of cave dwellings (Sassi)
and rupestrian churches: an excellent example of a whole town dug
into the rock. It has been used as a perfect setting for many films
as a place where Jesus Christ lived (among which, the Mel Gibson’s
Passion of Christ). Free lunch and free time at your disposal
FIT PACKAGES – AUTHENTIC
Reach Alberobello for an individual visit. It stands on the Unesco
heritage list and is home of trulli, limestone dwellings with conical
roofs, a fabulous, surreal place, the only town in the world entirely
built out of these dwellings – even the church is a fairy-tale trullo.
Check out and reach your airport for the return flight.
After the visit, proceed inland in the direct meaning of the word –
to the Castellana Grottoes, more than 90 million years old but
discovered only in 1938. During the visit (of almost 1 hr) you can
admire the extraordinary scenario of stalagmites, fossils, canyons,
lakes and caves.
The last destination of the day - Polignano Mare (the birthplace of
the song “Volare”), which has much to offer, especially the blue
waters of the sea. The crystal-clear beaches are also visible from
the old town, which shows traces of Arab, Byzantine and Norman
rule.
Dinner in restaurant with a typical menu, with carne alla brace,
grilled meat, in a rustic restaurant in Cisternino, to feel like a real
Apulian.
Today we suggest you a free visit of Locorotondo, one of the most
beautiful borgos in Italy. Immersed into the scenery of olive tree
groves, here simple, white angular buildings predominate. The
round-shaped old town hugs the hill and the view from the top is
spectacular. Free lunch.
In the afternoon we suggest the beautiful Martina Franca. Since
1975, the town has been hosting the annual summer opera
festival, the Festival della Valle d'Itria. The town has a particularly
beautiful old town surrounded by stone walls with prominent
piazzas and winding, tiny streets.
