Equipping the local church
to minister to the world in
the power of the Holy Spirit
Did You Hear What Happened at Aldersgate 2015?
In the midst of banners, flags, and
dancers, over 1100 people gathered July
9-12 in Lexington, KY, for Aldersgate, our
37th annual, national family conference
on Spirit-filled living. Aldersgate. The
theme of the conference was “Relentless
Love” and people who came from 35 states
and 2 foreign countries experienced
the relentless love
of God for them. A
laywoman from Illinois
told us “The music
was awesome. Truly
felt the Spirit moving.
Speakers brought the
Word clearly.”
People testified to being filled with the
Spirit and to feeling the presence of God.
A pastor from Illinois commented; “This
conference was a visible representation of
the awesome beauty and presence of God
from the first worship all the way through
the closing session. The experience of the
Holy Spirit leading and speaking through
normal authentic people will be helpful in
sharing with others what is possible.”
A laywoman from Kentucky told us, “The
Spirit was palpable and thick in the prayer
room and at the back of the worship
celebration area…The personal prophetic
word I received was confirming.”
There were many testimonies of people
being healed physically, emotionally,
relationally and spiritually. A pastor

from Kansas said; “I felt the power and
presence of the Holy Spirit with a new
freedom of heart.” A pastor from Alabama
commented, “I came to the conference
empty and tired. God blessed me with a
time of refreshing, renewing and filled me
with joy to continue my journey.”
Many participants
expressed appreciation
for the messages brought
by the keynote speakers,
especially for Bishop
Ricardo Pereira’s sharing
about the miraculous
work of God among
Methodists in Cuba.
Participants were enriched through
over 30 workshop offerings and prayer
ministry opportunities throughout the
conference. We were able to offer 140
personal prophetic appointments.
We had participants from as far away as
China viewing the webstream and, for
the first time, God “drafted” Mark Barrow,
the Aldersgate Conference Director, to
minister to some of those participants
online during the conference. Our God is
not limited by time zones or geographical
locations!
Looking forward to Aldersgate 2016 which
will be held in Lexington again, July 21-24,
2016, we say, “More Lord!”

Why did ARM send their Director
of Equipping Ministries, Dr. Frank
Billman to the Methodist Church of
Trinidad in September? Here is what
the Superintendent Minister of the
South Trinidad Circuit,
Derick Richards, had to
say: “In browsing the
internet I came across
Aldersgate Renewal
Ministries and found it
to be all that I have been
searching for personally
and desiring for the
Methodist Church in
the Caribbean. The
Methodist Church
in the Caribbean is
presently a shadow of
its former self. You will
be hard pressed to find
areas of our work where
there is evidence of a
great move of God…
The time for a spiritual
awakening has never
been so urgent. I am
convinced that God
is calling the Methodist Church in the
Caribbean to reform the nations of the
Caribbean.” Superintendent Richards’
email was like Paul’s Macedonian call
in the vision in Acts 16:9 “Come over to
Macedonia [Trinidad!] and help us.” Rev.
Richards believed ARM could help bring
power and revival to his churches.
Frank went to Trinidad and spoke on
“Re-digging the Supernatural Wells of
Methodism”, “Baptism in the Holy Spirit”,
“Holy Communion as a Source of Healing
and Revival” and “Ministering in Dry
Places.”
What were the results? . . .

First 5 Aldersgate Renewal
Ministries D.Min Graduates
For 3 years Aldersgate
Renewal Ministries has
been honored to work with
Doctor of Ministry students
at United Theological
Seminary in Dayton, OH
through the Supernatural
Ministry focus group.
This December the first
5 students will graduate
with fully accredited
D.Min degrees from a
United Methodist seminary. As part of
the program, each student completed a
project on supernatural ministry. Aaron
Brown’s project centered on training
First, I would like to thank

Director of Aldersgate
Renewal Ministries. I am
indeed honored and humbled
to serve in this capacity.
Second, some of you
who are new to this
ministry may have asked
the question who is this
Mark Barrow? In 1998,
the annual Aldersgate
Conference was held in
Dallas, TX, and, at the
invitation of John Cope,
my wife, Betty, son, Christopher, and I
attended. While at the conference, Sally
Havens invited me to lead a worship session
for the first time attendees to the conference.
I was pleased by the request, although
somewhat amused since I was a first timer
myself! From that moment in 1998 forward,
Gary Moore, Sally Havens and later Jonathan
Dow took me under their wings, and began
pouring wisdom, love and guidance into my
life, training me to serve behind the scenes
in many areas of this ministry. In 2000 my

churches. Gale Seibert chose
Spirit-led compassion as
her focus. Karen Alexander
created a Spiritual Boot

developed a project to help
individuals understand their
true spiritual identity and
to lead them into supernatural ministry.
Finally, Peggy Bird used peer coaching
as a means to hear God and develop
spiritual intimacy.
family and I moved to Goodlettsville, TN,
where I accepted a music director position.
This move served a dual purpose in that it
also enabled me to be closer to the Aldersgate
Renewal Center, allowing me to continue
with ministry there on a regular basis.
In this new season I find myself totally
surrendered to the leading of the Holy
Spirit. I am reminded
of Moses’ questioning
God’s choosing him:
surely there is one more
suitable for the position;
one more educated, a
better speaker, someone
better looking; but Moses
was God’s chosen. As
Moses trusted God, he had everything he
needed. Likewise, as God’s chosen, all we
need to do is to seek God first and always,
trusting that He will supply every need.
I look forward to seeing how the Lord will
answer our prayers as we press in, seek His
guidance and move as He leads. Again, I
thank you for your prayers, your presence,
your gifts, your service and your witness.

experienced the supernatural

IN THE SUPERNATURAL
INTENSIVE
ARM INTENSIVE
February 25 - 27, 2016

ARM Intensives are follow-ups to the sessions of the Methodist
School for Supernatural Ministry. Each of them will address
aspects of supernatural ministry, but they will be a day shorter
and less expensive.
Our first intensive will be held February 25-27, 2016 at the
Aldersgate Renewal Center in Goodlettsville, TN. The theme will
be Living in the Supernatural.
The body of Christ is made strong and healthy through the Spirit’s
manifestations; therefore, if there is not a biblical understanding
of supernatural gifts of the Spirit, the Church will run the risk of
never becoming a healthy body. It should be natural to live in the
supernatural. This intensive will prepare you to function in the
lifestyle advocated by Jesus and demonstrated in the book of Acts.
Some topics to be covered include:
• Understanding the basics - the weighty responsibility to host
the anointing.
• Non-negotiables - five essential factors we must adhere to if we
hope to walk in the supernatural with any sustainability.
• Where did the power go? - Why is the American church so
devoid of power?
• How supernatural gifts work - What does the supernatural
lifestyle look like?
• Creating a prophetic culture - living in the voice; life is in
His voice.
• The more excellent way - doing everything under the motive
of love.
Our Speaker: Dr. Rob McCorkle was “wrecked” by
the Holy Spirit in 2006. Ever since that time he has
had a passion for seeing our Methodist family and
especially the Church of the Nazarene [his church] redig
the supernatural wells that were established by John Wesley
and the early Methodists.
Rob is the founder of Fire School Ministries, established in 2008.
Along with pastoring a Nazarene church in Columbus, Ohio,
he teaches in revivals and conferences, equipping believers to
replicate the supernatural life and ministry of Jesus. In his church,
his Fire School, and conferences he has seen many healings,
deliverances and miracles. Rob and his wife, Cindy, have two
married children and one grandchild.
Rob got his D. Min. degree from United Theological Seminary in
the same group and at the same time as Randy Clark. He has just
published his first book Bridging the Great Divide: Reuniting Word
and Spirit, which will be available at the Intensive.
Our Worship Leader: Jonathan Dow is well known
in ARM circles as our former Executive Director.
Jonathan has a long standing passion for worship
and has led worship at many ARM events, in
churches, in retreats and in other settings. We look forward to
his anointed worship during this first ARM Intensive. We are
expecting God to move supernaturally under his anointing.

Gate Youth Conference Update
“Your ways are not my ways. Your
thoughts are not my thoughts.” was the
verse Kourtney Brownlow prayed over
the Gate Conference.
That word of the Lord, from the book
of Isaiah, spoke
to and covered
everyone who
was a part of the
Gate. Over the
course of the
conference and
in the months
since, the Lord
has continued to
move in ways we
did not expect.
We spent time
with a group of incredible young men
and women studying the love of God.
We looked at the love He gives to us, and
what that means for our lives.
Jonathan Dow taught that we cannot love
others if we do not first love ourselves.
Tyler Best challenged the youth to not
hold any love back, especially from those
who are considered unlovable.
We dug into God’s Word, and saw that
loving the church, His earthly body, was
at the center of the spread of the Gospel.
Our love for each other is how they will
know Christ is risen.
Finally, we realized that because of all the
things the Lord has done for us, we must
be empowered by the Spirit to relentlessly
love the world.
The whole world – no exceptions.
And the youth got it.
KYLE LOCK
One of the most amazing things to come
out of the Gate this year was a renewed
sense of trust in the plans of the Lord. A
group of youth grew together in Christ
and began to step toward leadership.
They boldly worshipped a God they knew
loved them intimately. The Gate Youth
came to trust in the plan the Lord has,
because they spent time learning about
the love He has.
Or, better put,
they spent time
learning about
the Love that He
is.
The amazing
growth we saw
in this group of
youth was not
our doing, and it
certainly wasn’t
our plan. God
moved in ways greater than ours. Even
now, several months later, the movement
of the Spirit continues to confuse and
mystify us.
We trust that the plan of the Lord is good.
We saw the Spirit move this year in a
group of young adults who are eager to
share His love.

What an amazing year of ministry in
2015. We touched over 1,100 people, from
infant to senior citizen, at the Aldersgate
Conference in Lexington, KY. In addition,
many have been encouraged and
equipped at the following ARM sponsored
events: Five Lord Teach Us To Pray
weekends, ten Lay Witness Missions, two
Women’s Days Apart, six Local Renewal
Fellowships, ten international events,
two Methodist Schools for Supernatural
ministries, five Life in the Spirit Seminars,
one Minister and Spouse Retreat, and
one Worship In Spirit and In Truth event.
There are five students graduating with
a Doctor of Ministry degree with a focus
in Supernatural Ministries from United
Theological Seminary in conjunction
with Aldersgate Renewal Ministries.
These are just the events on the books
and do not include the countless phone
calls and folks stopping by the office for
prayer, resources and encouragement.
These events and opportunities could not
have taken place without your generosity
in giving to this ministry.

ARM reaches hundreds of people ready
to give up in ministry, give out from
weariness and give into discouragement.

Exciting News From
The President
Grace and Peace to you my brothers
and sisters,
This year, ARM has been on an
incredible journey of discernment. It
was a journey marked by highs and
lows, moving steps forward and at
times falling back a few. Often times
in life we wish the circumstances we
find ourselves in could be just a little
easier. We think things like, “Once
I get through this, then I can enjoy
life.” The danger with that mentality
is that we can become so focused
on the future, we miss what God is
doing in the present. I must admit
that, over the past year, as we have
waited ‘patiently’
for God to reveal
to us who the next
Executive Director
of ARM will be,
I have often had
similar thoughts
of “things will just
be better when…”
It was in the late
summer when the
Holy Spirit opened
my eyes to see the
amazing things
that God is doing
right now, in and
through ARM.
The Holy Spirit
showed me the
gift that we have in the dedicated and
passionate staff who have not missed
a beat, as we have waited patiently on
God for these next steps in ministry.
They have faithfully carried out the
mission of ARM, equipping the local
church to minister to the world in the
power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy
Spirit also showed me the gifts and
graces that exist within the Executive
Committee of the Board and Council.

Committee has become a powerful
team that continues to seek the Lord’s
wisdom and guidance. The Lord is
truly doing amazing things through
amazing people. This time of waiting
and discerning has not been wasted
time; God has been moving.
I wish I could express in words the
excitement and joy that was shared
among the Personnel Committee when
we discerned that God was calling
Mark Barrow into the role of Executive
Director. Mark’s faithful leadership
during this time of transition has been
instrumental in the continuation of
the faithful ministry of ARM. With
the addition of Ric
Holladay to the
leadership team,
I am convinced
more than ever
that ARM is
prepared for
bold and exciting
opportunities for
ministry in the
years to come. I
would invite you
to surround these
two men with
your prayers, that
they would be
filled to capacity
with the Holy
Spirit and exhibit
every gift that is needed to lead ARM
where the Lord would lead. These
are exciting and dynamic times for
the ministry, which is ripe and ready
for God to move it in majestic and
powerful ways.

Conference meets every four (4) years
and has delegates from all over the world.
This conference provides an opportunity
to share ARM’s mission and vision with
nearly 2,000 people. ARM has been
represented at General Conferences
through the prayer ministry offered, but we
have not previously had an exhibit there.

We see in Isaiah 43:18- 19 the Lord says:
“Forget the former things; do not dwell
on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness and
streams in the wasteland.” I know that
God is doing a new thing in the ministry
of Aldersgate Renewal Ministries.
Members and friends of the ministry,
we can rest in the assurance that God
has a plan for the growth and ministry of
ARM. As we continue to move into this
new season of ministry, please join me
in praying for our leadership, staff and
ministry. Also, would you please pray
for God’s leading as we prepare for the
Leadership Development Team’s report
for the Gathering in 2016?
