INTRODUCING ENTRUST

Entrust Support Services is a provider of educational services to schools, academies and

early years settings across the UK. In addition to the Governor Services described in this

brochure, we also provide school improvement, SEN and Inclusion, careers guidance,

finance, HR, ICT, facilities management, property and other educational services such

as music and outdoor education. Entrust currently work in partnership with 600 schools

across 51 Local Authority areas.

By building on our reputation for excellence and delivering what we promise, we want to

help make every school in England a good school, ensuring every child and young person

gets the education they deserve.

GOVERNOR SERVICES

Governor Training and Development is a key function of Entrust Governor Services and we

aim to provide high quality learning and development opportunities for all governors.

Whether you are a new governor or one with considerable experience, we know how

important your work is and we greatly value your commitment and contribution in helping

to raise and maintain standards in our schools and academies.

Our training programme includes:

> > Training for Governors who require an introduction or refresher.

> > Advanced training for experienced Governors to continue their professional

development.

> > Training related to the curriculum and OfSTED inspections.

> > Training to support Stronger Governance.

Within our Programme for 2015/2016, individual Governors and whole Governing Bodies

will be able to find a wide range of training courses and support to meet their specific needs.

However, should you be unable to find exactly what you require, or wish several of your

members to access certain training, we are always happy to provide school-based bespoke

and individualised packages on request.

Our commitment to all Governing Bodies is to provide relevant, appropriate and timely

training that is both affordable and accessible. We offer a wide variety of training courses

to cater for the needs of new and experienced governors, and for those with specific

responsibilities within the Governing Body.

Our trainers are highly talented, professional and experienced consultants. They have

designed the current training programme, using the knowledge from their wealth of

experience, working alongside Governing Bodies and senior leadership teams. They use

up to date, high quality materials and resources. Please compare our training, the expertise

External Review of School Governance

As an extremely popular request from schools, the External Review of School Governance provides independent expertise,

objectivity, rigour, support and challenge to identify the strengths of the governing body and areas for its own development. As a

result school governance becomes:

> > More skilled, focused and effective.

> > More aware of the freedoms that it has to work in different ways and to take advantage of these.

> > Clear in its vision for the school or academy and how, together with the school leadership team, it can achieve this.

> > Confident that it has a clear delineation of roles and responsibilities, the right structures to secure operational efficiency and

effectiveness, and an appropriate number of skilled and committed governors to meet the context and needs of the school

or academy.

This service is generally a two day package (this may alter according to school situation for eg. where schools are part of a MAT).

The package includes:

> > An audit of documentation incl. website.

> > An initial discussion and review.

> > A written report with recommendations.

> > A follow-up meeting to support action planning.

Bespoke follow up training session can also be purchased to support any recommendations.

Governor Improvement Partner

This package provides ongoing support to your Governing body in order to:

> > Ensure the Governing Body is fulfilling core functions well.

> > Ensure leadership of the Governing Body is focussed on School Improvement priorities.

> > Ensure the work of the Governing Body is effective and supports school improvement.

> > Increase knowledge and understanding of good governance in order to improve performance of Governing Body.

> > Maximise the contribution of the Governing Body to Leadership and Management of school.

> > Identify training needs.

We will allocate you with an Improvement Partner who has extensive and recent experience who will attend either two or three

meetings across the year.

Your partner will:

> > Hold an initial meeting with Head Teacher / Chair of Governors to plan the

support package for the year.

> > Plan meetings and activities that are bespoke to your individual school (eg:

meetings with chairs of committees, data, attendance at a Full Governing Body

meeting, Ofsted, self-review).

> > Provide practical support and feedback after each meeting/activity.

> > Identify areas where commissioned support may be needed.

Delivered by an experienced Governor associate and bespoke to individual

Governing bodies the Governor Improvement Partner will provide the equivalent of

a ½ day visit per term.

Mini Governance Health Check

This package will support your Governing Body to identify current strengths and areas for development.

The health check, delivered by an experienced Governor Associate, takes two hours to complete and includes a written report

with recommendations.

The health check will:

> > Ensure that your Governing Body are delivering core functions.

> > Ensure that your Governing Body are focussed on school improvement and

demonstrate that their work fulfils statutory requirements.

> > Identify how Senior Leaders and Governors work together to bring about school

improvement.

> > Identify any gaps which require action/ training/ support in the future.

A bespoke follow up training session can also be purchased upon completion to support

any recommendations.

Stronger Governance Systems

The Stronger Governance Systems training is designed to help Governors improve the quality and impact they make in their

school.

It focuses on practical but essential elements of Governance directly related to

school improvement, providing materials to help Governors review, and improve their

understanding of and practice in their strategic role in school improvement.

The training will be designed according to your specific needs - whether you are looking

to move to good or from good to outstanding - we work hard to ensure you drive the

outcomes and set the agenda.

This training is delivered in your school over two sessions, both two hours long.

An additional session can also be purchased to provide further training and development.

Challenge & Improve – SEN Support

Do you have responsibility on your school’s governing body for overseeing SEN provision?

This awareness-raising session will provide you with an overview of the role of the SEN Governor and the implementation of

Special Educational Needs and Disability Policies. It will boost your confidence and ensure you are equipped with knowledge and

skills to challenge your school’s SEN policy and provision ready for an Ofsted inspection.

Clerk Training

This session is aimed particularly at new governing body clerks and those that have never undertaken

training before.

Benchmarking and Best Value

Benchmarking is strongly recommended by the DfE and an annual benchmarking exercise is required under

the Schools Financial Value Standard. This is a practical hands-on course which allows attendees to explore

the national benchmarking website and view reports relating to their own school.

School Financial Value Standard (SFVS) Workshop

Governors must self-assess the financial management of the school annually under the SFVS. This

workshop is designed for them and for the school staff supporting them in their self-assessment.
