Sales & Product Manager – Africa

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, organised and self-motivated individual who has the

drive to succeed in developing and refining the Africa, Asia & Australasia programme, whilst ensuring

that the client service is exceptional and sales targets are achieved. The successful candidate will

ideally have previous experience in sourcing and negotiating Africa, Asia & Australasia travel product,

preferably within the luxury travel industry.

Reporting directly to our Head of Sales and Head of Product & Operations and working alongside our

Senior Travel Consultants, the Sales & Product Manager will use their destination knowledge, to create

and sell individually designed tailor-made itineraries whilst keeping clients requirements at the

forefront. They will have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure.

We require an excellent communicator with astute commercial awareness and good problem

solving skills.

For the successful candidate there are great travel opportunities as we ensure that all our sales and

product team have regular trips to specialist destinations and ensure that they keep on top of what is

hot and what is not.

About the role

• Account manage suppliers and carry out regular

business reviews

• Develop strong relationships and champion product

within ER

• Effectively research new products and present the

best selection to be featured.

• Negotiate contracts, offers, incentives and sales &

marketing agreements and ensure that terms and

conditions are adhered to

• Manage the overall product performance, i.e. sales, profit

targets, service delivery, pricing, yield and margins

• Work with the Product & Marketing team to ensure all

necessary requirements for brochure production and

website content are fulfilled

• Produce information and pricing for brochures

and collateral

• Carry out regular business reviews with suppliers and

communicate outcomes

• Maintain product knowledge by viewing products,

attending trade shows and supplier presentations

• Monitor and analyse sales/trends/availability/competitor

activity, provide reports and recommendations and work

with Sales/Commercial/Marketing to put in place

tactical measures

• Assist with the negotiations with suppliers when rate are

calculated/applied incorrectly

• Handle product related sales enquiries to reach and

exceed agreed target

• Identify clients’ needs and propose products that meet the

needs and expectations of the client

• Proactively suggest up sell options that would be to the

benefit of the client

• Volunteer product knowledge to enhance the service

provided to clients

• Ensure sales opportunities are maximized

• Assist sales colleagues wherever possible with pricing

and product queries and build a strong relationship with

geographical team

• To complete all details of the clients holiday within

relevant systems

• Pass booking requests and quotation document requests

to the Personal Assistant team to action

• Communicate product updates across the business

• Ensure pro-active delivery of product training

• Work with client services to handle product complaints in

a timely manner, ensuring the best outcome for

the business

• Communicate effectively (clearly and timely) with other

managers within the company to ensure issues are

brought to resolution

Personal skills and experience

• Previous experience of sourcing and negotiating a travel product in the travel industry at a bespoke travel company

within the luxury sector

• Extensive knowledge of Africa, Asia and Australasia product

• Extensive experience within tour operations

• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and attention to detail essential

• Advanced negotiation skills

• Hands on experience in a commercial capacity with excellent numerical skills and commercial awareness

• High level of personal organization, time management and work load prioritization

• Positive and helpful attitude, a good ambassador for the business

• Results orientated with a focus on high quality and business profit

• Ability to work under pressure

• Good, fast decision maker

• Self motivated

• Team player with strong interpersonal skills

Technical Skills:

Job Details:

• Very Strong Negotiation Skills Training

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft, especially Word

and Outlook

• Knowledge of GDS preferably Galileo and Holiday

Reservation systems

Contract Type: Permanent Contract

Job Type: Full-Time Position

Hours: Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.30pm

plus 1 in 8 Saturdays

Salary Range: £Competitive
