The best introduction to Brit Wacher’s work is to let her clothing speak for itself: Her designs You’re based out of Montreal. What do you like about the city?
are at once real and feminine, yet there is a strong sense of confidence about them. A native I love Montreal. Being based in Montreal is definitely an advantage. The city has such an intriguing
and beautiful energy—the people are friendly and super creative.
Canadian, Brittany Wacher is based out of Montreal. After attending La Salle University in
Vancouver, she worked as a stylist in Asia and Thailand before moving to Arnhem, where she
trained under Dutch designer Pauline van Dongen. While there. she perfected her garment What inspires your work?
construction skills and began to hone her aesthetic, influenced in no small part by van Dongen’s My creations are based upon perspectives in experiencing life through fantasy and surrounding
highly technical approach to garment making. Wacher blends fantasy and reality, her clothing realistic core conflicts of the world. I’m inspired by the concept of duality and the passage of
expresses a duality in both shape, strucutre and color, while exuding femininity and complex energy through time and space.
craftsmanship.
What items should every woman have?
What is your favorite thing about the collection?
Capes and sturdy wanderer boots.
My collections are always based upon characters who are existing in the future, different dimensions,
and/or separate universes. They are from a place untouched by reality, as we know it. What makes your designs stand out?
A place of golden light - this is what keeps me going. It is magical to see them come alive with I enjoy using abstract yet structured prints as well as utilizing shapes that distort yet compliment
the woman’s body in a way in which gives her each piece of clothing.
strength.
