Hanoi dropped its demand for war reparations. The United States did, however, provide<br />

war-related assistance, <strong>in</strong> modest amounts, for such programs as clean-up of the Agent Orange<br />

(diox<strong>in</strong>) defoliant used by the U.S. military, removal of unexploded ord<strong>in</strong>ance and de-m<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g, and<br />

support for disabled persons.<br />
