Pop-up videos. Pop-under ads. Autoplay<br />
videos. Banner ads.<br />
As marketers, why did we ever think that<br />
“disrupt and distract” methods <strong>of</strong> reaching<br />
consumers were a good idea?<br />
You know: Radio. TV. Print. Direct mail.<br />
<strong>The</strong>n came the Internet. And we considered it<br />
just another channel.<br />
So we digitized our brochures and put<br />
them on our shiny, new websites. And we<br />
surrounded those brochures and loaded up<br />
those websites with banner ads to monetize<br />
the new medium.<br />
Next came email, video, mobile, and social ….<br />
Digital advertising quickly got out <strong>of</strong> hand<br />
