A lot of people say that the solution is knowledge as our condition stems from bad mental health and if everyone “wakes up” our problems will be solved. There are two issues with this wish. Issue 1. Trying to “wake up” everyone is a noble task. For each two persons that a “conscious/cultural” group may pull into the ranks per month, America’s decadent system (which includes a perverted media) has maybe influenced 200-300,000 children to try drugs or engage in illicit sex for the first time during that same month. Thus the battle for the minds continues to be a losing one for the “conscious community”. A withdrawal from the immoral dominant system is in order. Issue 2. If your "wake up" means become conscious of ourselves, great history, etc. or aware that we are on a path of self destruction, Black unity, etc, then a lot of people are already awake. These very people that are killing each other, selling drugs, gang-banging, etc. are already awake. As a matter of fact a large amount of them may have more knowledge than you and I as some may have been to prison where many are enlightened and take advantage of the free time to study intensively and extensively. When those same prisoners are released they are still faced with the task of taking care of self and perhaps family. If the society has not provided means to earn a living, then it's back to the streets.......... being "waken" with all that knowledge. Society had nothing to offer in the way helping the person earn a living for him/her-self so they took any alternative course for survival. Presidents, Governors, Mayors and other government leaders are rated partly upon their creating employment or lack of for their citizens. How are we faring as leaders or as organizations especially those who may use the word "nation"? I was told by an elder in the Nation of Islam that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad once told them not to bring in new members if they couldn't provide them a job. That statement shows "National" leadership not just fractional "religious" leadership. Social scientists well know that any impoverished population in survival mode will develop self destructive ways of trying to live. So family, we must be able to offer ways to make a living (make jobs available) before shouting for someone to WAKE UP. Having our own land and government is the ONLY guaranteed way of achieving this. LEADERSHIP “Leadership“ in this writing is meant: the action of leading a group of people or an organization A leader is: a person who leads. This denotes that there is a set destination or envisioned goal.
Black people have tended to labeling as a “leader “ anyone who steps up and publicly voices their opinion or gets into public conflict with their defined enemy. That person who is now called a leader may never announce his/her vision, destination or goal and lay out steps to follow or walk with her/him to that destination. Some sisters and brothers, who are now referred to as leaders, should be properly defined as “voices of dissent” or “voices of conflict” or “teachers”. Their good intentions should be appreciated and any impact for the better should be rewarded, but improper labeling only leads to false hope and disappointment of those who then expect to be led to the “promised land”. There is a critical issue afflicting us that we must address in order to be able to move out of the "Wilderness" and into the "Promised Land" and to help us understand before we criticize those in "leadership". The issue is what I term "SUBCONSCIOUS BETRAYAL". Subconscious is: "of or concerning the part of the mind of which one is not fully aware but which influences one's actions and feelings". Betrayal: "to disappoint the hopes or expectations of". Throughout the years of traveling to different countries meeting and working with various government leaders, some who actually fought to attain their country's independence or new-found freedoms. A lot of these "revolutionaries" had become the "new elite" and seemed to had forgotten the aspirations of the masses, but through talking with them it was clear that they were fully aware. The subconscious of those individuals had come under the influence of new-found comforts of big titles, money, cars and luxurious homes and of course the influence such held toward the opposite sex and pleasure thereof. Now with their NATURAL yearning for comfort/paradise answered, the subconscious betrayed the aspirations of the masses who still were "have-nots". This is a completely natural occurrence that should not be blamed on those leaders for even they do not understand the control that they are under. We all know how when we get what we went hard for, we then slack off. The champ no longer fights like he did. The homie or homegirl from the hood strikes it big and doesn't come back to "show love". My beloved, there is wisdom in Mathew 19:24 which states: "And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God". Luke 6:20: And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, "Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God". That is the natural consequence that we may find some in "leadership" in. Their subconscious will dictate that they do not make any radical or drastic moves that will risk personal comfort while trying to gain comfort for others. A sad but true reality family. THE CONDITION OF BLACKS IN AMERICA To change a condition you must first acknowledge what condition you are in.
