A Welcome from the Mayor Croeso i’r Drenewydd - Welcome to Newtown. On behalf of Newtown it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our town. This is an exciting year for Newtown and District Automobile Club bringing the opening round of the brand new MSA British Rally Championship to Newtown for the first time showcasing Newtown to an international audience, raising awareness of the beauty of the area and highlighting what a wonderful place it is to visit. This can only benefit tourism and the local economy as well as providing an exciting event for the community. The Rally is particularly appropriate for Newtown as there are local companies who not only build rally cars but also provide support and rally crews worldwide. We are very proud of our community in Newtown and the part local groups like Newtown and District Automobile Club play in it. Newtown has a lot to offer and I hope that if you are visiting the area for the Rally you have a chance to explore our historic market town and the stunning scenery that surrounds us in Montgomeryshire. We have a diverse and eclectic selection of places to stay, restaurants, shops and places to visit for you to explore. Cllr. Richard Edwards Mayor of Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn 3
