ANNOUNCEMENTS: AASCA SWIM 2016 March 4, 2016 ISSUE 26 v=J8kfkAwcKYI AASCA Swimming 2016 was the 2 nd ever AASCA Swimming competition. Hosted at the American Nicaraguan School in Managua, the competition featured scholastic athletes from seven schools in six different countries. The meet was highly competitive, and many swimmers in this year’s competition also participated in swimming at their home country’s national level. ISP came in fourth place overall for men’s and women’s total points with a delegation of sixteen swimmers. ISP’s swimmers edged out a very competitive team from the Escuela Internacional Sampredrana with a score of 1006 to 895. We also brought home a total of five medals: 2 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze. Beyond the rankings and medals, ISP swimmers excelled at this meet. Our swimmers swam personal best times for almost every race in which they competed. The amount of time dropped as our athletes competed easily scales into the minutes, which is an impressive accomplishment in the world of swimming. The most notable reward from the trip, however, doesn’t have to do with the competition. The best part of AASCA swimming was watching our swimmers grow closer to each other as a team and seeing the international friendships they built with swimmers from countries all over Central America. At the end of the meet, the first place team called up swimmers from all teams to stand together with them on stage in a powerful display of friendship, sportsmanship, and comradery. On behalf of the coaches, I want to express our pride and excitement for the ISP Dolphins Swim Team and their performance at AASCA Swimming 2016. They worked hard, they swam hard, and they solidified relationships that will prepare them for a future without borders. The ISP Dolphins Swim team is continuing to practice at full strength in preparation for our 3 rd Annual ISP Invitational Swim Meet, hosted here on April 1 st and 2 nd , 2016. Our swimmers will face off against numerous local schools and some international competition in this exciting annual event. Let’s celebrate the successes of our team at AASCA Swimming 2016 and keep our support coming for the ISP Invitational! -Coach Andrew Alfano #goispdolphins! #thereisnoplacelikeisp ISP’s WEEKLY NEWSLETTER Educational excellence for a future without borders.
