Name: Gary Hunt
Weight: 67kg
Height: 5’9”
1. Can you give us a quick bio of your background and beginnings?
I started diving at the age of 9, and competed 10m and 10m synchro until the age of 22,
my biggest accomplishment was third place in the commonwealth games in 2006 in the
10m synchro event.
I moved to high diving in 2006 and started competing in 2007, my accomplishments
include 5 times Red Bull world series champion, current world champion.
2. What attracted you and got you into this sport?
I love the challenges that come with the sport of diving. Every dive is an emotional roller
coaster. There’s such a difference in the way I feel before a high dive (all the nerves
and the stress), the way I feel during the dive (total freedom and control) and the sensation
after a successful dive.
3. As a professional, what is the best thing about this sport and what sets it apart from
others?
Training includes lots of diving from the poolside, 1m, 3m, 5m, 7m, and 10m, plus lots of
strength and conditioning, some trampolining and dry land somersaults.
