Athletics in family Husband Daniel Kinsey (b ’86): Dec: 7.563 ‘09
Note At age 16 improved by 21 cm in one year, at Swedish Youth Ch raised PB from 1.80 to 1.86...
That PB stood for three years until ‘07 when improved by 1 cm ... In ‘07 also a surprise winner
of the European Junior title ... However, gradually started to loose motivation and left the
sport to pursue other interest (e.g. played icehockey for a couple of years) ... Except for a
minor comeback in summer of ’11 basically took four years off from athletics ... But then in
’13 interest was rekindled ... Begun second athletic career at University of Central Missouri
... Already in February ’14 by clearing 1.88 (just 3 cm off PB) proved jumping talent had not
gone missing... In ‘15 leading the UCM team to their first ever overall NCAA division 2 titles
indoors as well as outdoors by scoring in HJ, LJ and TJ (1st, 4th and 1st indoors, 1st, 4th and
2nd outdoors) ... Last summer immediately established herself on the international scene by
4th place at European Team Champs (1.97!) and 3rd place at Lausanne DL ... Not the
first international class athlete out of Nälden:’58 European Champs 400mH silver medalist
Per-Owe Trollsås also came from that small community (population c 900) in mid-eastern
Sweden.
Notes
Has in ’12-’16 amassed – so far – no less than 12 individual national titles for his age group
...Apparently thrives at Stockholm WIT event “Globengalan”: In ’15 at age 17 lowered PB by
2.81 to 1:49.01 and in ’16 at age 18 took another 1.16 off to set NJIR of 1:47.85 ... That time
is also pending European U20 indoor record as it surpasses the current record ratified by
European Athletics.
Notes Between ’10 and ’13 won no less than 17 individual national youth and junior titles ... In autumn ’14
moved to Nijmegen (NED) and boyfriend Jesper van der Wielen (pb’s 7:52.57/13:29.02 on track and 28:18
on road) ... Had a 2:47 last km when taking the national indoor title at 3000m this winter ... Would have
preferred to compete in the 3000m rather than the 1500m at the WICh but missed entry standard for the
longer distance by a mere 1.16 second ... Made the 1500m standard en-route to a NIR for 1 mile at the
Stockholm WIT meet.
Notes
Very consistent as a heptathlete: Since doing 5.682 in his ’09 debute at age 18 has had eight
series between 5.709 and 5.904 ... However adding up the best event marks from his ’09-‘16
heptathlons would give a score of 6.100.
Notes Moved to Sweden from Jamaica at age 3 ... Big breakthrough winter of ’13 lowering 60m PB by 0.17,
running consistently in the 6.60’s and finishing 5th at European Indoors ... Injury put early halt to the
’13 outdoor season ... Back healthy next winter missing semi in ’14 WICh by merely 0.02 ... Total number of
sub-6.70 performances currently stands at 15 ... In autumn ’15 moved from Umeå to Falun to train in the
same group as Susanna Kallur ... Coach Torbjörn Eriksson ’92 OG 200m semifinalist, 60m PB 6.69 ’95.
Notes At age 16 became the inaugural Youth Olympic Triple Jump champion ... In early ’12 suffered major
knee injury(cruciate ligament) in training, had operation in ’13 and returned to competition in
winter of ’14 ... After return has focused on Long Jump but as Triple Jump still is favourite event probably
will return to that sometime in the future ... Missed a place in the final of the ’15 European Idoors by
a mere 1 cm finishing 9th in the qualification ... In ’15 improved PB by 23 cm in and that was no one-off
mark ... Rather had eight outdoor performances at 6.68-6.78 ... Tied PB when finishing 7th in the Worlds.
Notes
A classical “late bloomer” with her U20 PB just 1.72 ... Seemed to be stuck in the 1.70’s
when finally at age 22 making 1.80 in her début on the national team in the prestigeous
match vs Finland ... Big breakthrough in ‘13 raising her PB by 10 cm to 1.90 ... In ’15 added
another 2 cm when winning national outdoor title ... Made her international championship
début at age 25 in the ’15 Worlds ... There finished14th out of 30 in the qualification ... This
winter further raised her game averaging 1.904 in seven meets ... 2nd behind only Ruth Beitia
in Stockholm WIT ... Since autumn ’14 coached by ’04 Olympic champion Stefan Holm.
