As the voice of business, the BC Chamber of Commerce is the largest and most broadly–based

business organization in B.C. It represents local Chambers of Commerce, Boards of Trade, and

Corporate members in communities throughout the BC province. For more than 60 years, the BC

Chamber of Commerce has created and worked with local chambers to provide high-quality policy

and strategic advocacy to help build a business friendly British Columbia. Focus areas such as

policy development, advocacy, chamber programs and services and many member benefits have

demonstrated the value the BC Chamber brings to our members and our Province.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President & CEO is responsible for the administration and

overall management of the organization. With strong visionary leadership, keeping Directors

informed and responsive to the needs of our members, the successful candidate’s strategic

thinking will assist the Directors in developing and implementing short–term and long-term

planning objectives that will provide outstanding service to our members and our business


The successful candidate will possess an outstanding track record of success and is recognized

for his or her business expertise, interpersonal skills, and leadership qualities. He or she is known

for communicating a compelling vision that will inspire and engage key stakeholders, is

passionate about issues effecting business, government, and public affairs, and will conduct his or

herself with the utmost diplomacy. Proven experience working with volunteer-led-not-for-profit

organizations is an asset.

Key Responsibilities

Directs the day-to-day operation of the organization;

Advocates on behalf of its members to create or amend policy;

Directs the achievement of the Board’s strategic goals;

Leads and mentors a diverse team of employees;

Attends all Board meetings and is an ex-officio member of all committees; and

Acts as a consultant to the Board and its committees.

Organizational Responsibilities

Strategic Planning

Conducts both an internal and external environmental scan to identify emerging issues

that affect the organization.

Participates with the Board in the creation of an organizational vision and strategic plan

based on the results of the environmental scan;
