ABOUT YOUR PARTICIPATION
Building Impact donation drives are a convenient way for
participants to give back by providing much-needed items
for BI beneficiary organizations. Your generosity makes a real
difference in the lives of the people BI supports ranging from
dressing for success to having toys for the holidays when some
children would not otherwise.
Also new in 2015, Building Impact Volunteer Socials are a fun,
quick, and easy way for BI Volunteers to give back while on the
go! Located in the lobby of BI buildings, Volunteer Socials
are a great way for people on the go to volunteer, learn about
nonprofit organizations and enjoy refreshments, all in less than
five minutes!
PARTNER ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
BOSTON YOUTH SANCTUARY
On behalf of Boston Youth Sanctuary Inc., I would like to thank you for your
generous donation of book bags, school and office supplies.
As Amy, a
student in
our children’s
program says,
“With my
backpack, now
I can be just
like everybody
else at
school.”
Housing Families
Boston Youth Sanctuary serves youth ages 6-11 who have experienced trauma and
who live in some of the areas of Boston most plagued by poverty and community
violence. BYS youth have suffered form traumas including the violent deaths of
parents and siblings, sexual and physical abuse, homelessness and foster care. All
of these are associated with poor outcomes if left unaddressed, exacerbated by
continued poverty.
BYS ensures that these children have a safe and nurturing place to go after school
where they can grow and develop the life skills and coping strategies necessary
for their success. BYS provides daily empowerment and enrichment programing,
offered at no cost to the families, which include therapeutic support groups, prosocial
skill-building activities and integrated arts lessons. In behalf of our children
and families, we appreciate your donated back-to-school and office supplies.
BYS will provide services to youth from Roxbury, Dorchester and Mattapan for
its fourth school year starting in September. We were able to serve twenty-eight
children and their families last school year and will be increasing our enrollment for
the 2015-2016 school year.
Sincerely,
Jana Karp, M. Ed
Executive Director and Founder
HOUSING FAMILIES
Thank you and the generous donors who participated in Housing Families’ annual
backpack drive. You are helping to transform the lives of homeless children!
Donors like you are reason the children in our program have paper and pencils to do
their homework, calculators to work on math and backpacks to carry all their books.
You’re also giving them a sense of normalcy. As Amy, a student in our children’s
program says, “With my backpack, now I can be just like everybody else at school.”
On behalf of the children you are helping and the entire staff of Housing Families,
thank you for helping us achieve and surpass our goal of collecting 800 backpacks
for homeless and at-risk children.
Sincerely,
Jim Goebelbecker
Chief Executive Officer
GREATER BOSTON FOOD BANK
On behalf of The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB), I want to thank you for your
donation of 737 pounds of food to support vulnerable residents in our region.
Your contribution will help create healthy lives for our friends and neighbors who
struggle to have enough to eat. Generous and dedicated individuals like you have
enabled GBFB to progress in our mission to End Hunger Here and work toward our
strategic objective to provide One Meal A Day to every person in need in eastern
Massachusetts.
For single-parent families, veterans, low-income seniors, and community college
students, the healthiest foods are often those too expensive to afford. Through our
established food distribution channels, GBFB provides high-quality and nutrient
rich items – like fresh greens and fruit, as well as frozen meat – that serve as building
blocks for the healthy bodies and minds of those in need.
Your donation of 737 pounds of food received on Thursday, April 9, 2015 will provide
614 nutritious meals to those at risk of hunger. You have my earnest gratitude for
your partnership in helping to End Hunger Here.
Sincerely,
Erin K. Lee
Corporate Relations Manager
All of this
is possible
because you
are a part of
this community
of caring
supporters
who have
joined us in our
efforts to end
homelessness.
Pine Street Inn
PINE STREET INN
On behalf of the homeless men and women who are guests of Pine Street Inn, I
would like to take the time to thank Building Impact for all that they have done for
our organization over the past year.
Your donation of canned goods that we received in March combined with donation
of trail mix that we received in September and December was greatly appreciated.
And most of all, your support shows our guests that there are so many people out
there that believe in their well-being.
The commitment that we receive from Building Impact in helping individuals
weather the crises in their lives, is appreciated by those who help them and most
importantly, by those who have benefited from your help – the men and women
who have since moved out of the shelter and into their own homes. For this, we are
so very grateful.
All of this is possible because you are a part of this community of caring supporters
who have joined us in our efforts to end homelessness.
With gratitude,
Jack Nolan
Acquisition and Purchasing Manager
GOODWILL INDUSTRIES
Thank you for organizing Building Impact’s participation in Goodwill’s Annual Put Your Clothes to
Work drive. Building Impact collected 1697 pounds of professional clothing and accessories to help
make a difference in their lives of training program graduates from across the City of Boston.
With more than 40 Boston area companies participating in the drive, we were able to collect more than
23,000 pounds. This was 32 percent above the goal and 48 percent more than last year. Your support
will help us to sustain the Clothing Collaborative for Job Trainees for another year.
At a recent Clothing Collaborative event, nearly 200 individuals from Goodwill and other job training
programs across the city were able to take the next step towards self-sufficiency with the help of Building
Impact’s generous donations.
We are really looking forward to having you and your colleagues participate in the Put Your Clothes to
Work program again next year.
Sincerely,
ST. JUDE CHILDREN’S RESEARCH HOSPITAL
Thank you for your continued support of St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital in 2015! We are so appreciative of your partners
giving their time to create Happy Craft Cart Kits for the children at
St. Jude. At St. Jude, we believe that children should live as normal
a life as possible and this includes participating in arts and crafts.
The Happy Craft Cart Kits are a fun way for the kids to take their minds
off of their treatment and to just be kids for a few moments each
day. Each kit contains a new experience for a St. Jude patient, which
is why these are always welcomed at St. Jude. St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital is leading the way the world understands, treats
and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
It is the only National Cancer Institute designated Comprehensive
Cancer Center devoted solely to children.
Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall
childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to 80 percent since
the hospital opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to
drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90 percent,
and we won’t stop until no child dies from cancer. St. Jude freely
shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude
means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to
save thousands more children. Families never receive a bill from St.
Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family
should worry about is helping their child live.
There truly is no place like St. Jude and that is largely in part because
of our donors and volunteers that work tirelessly to ensure that the
children and families feel at home. Thank you for your support and
we look forward to another great year.
