THE DESIGN GUIDELINES<br />

These guidelines describe the visual and verbal<br />

elements that represent <strong>JoJo</strong> <strong>Tanks</strong>´s corporate<br />

identity. This includes our name, logo and other<br />

elements such as colour, type and graphics.<br />

Sending a consistent and controlled message of<br />

who we are is essential to presenting a strong,<br />

unified image of our company.<br />

The <strong>JoJo</strong> <strong>Tanks</strong> brand, including the logo, name,<br />

colours and identifying elements, are valuable<br />

company assets.<br />

Each of us is responsible for protecting the<br />

company’s interests by preventing unauthorised or<br />

incorrect use of the <strong>JoJo</strong> <strong>Tanks</strong> name and marks.<br />

These guidelines reflect <strong>JoJo</strong> <strong>Tanks</strong>´s commitment<br />

to quality, consitency and style.<br />

WHO IS THIS MANUAL FOR?<br />

It is for you, as a part of <strong>JoJo</strong> <strong>Tanks</strong>, as a supplier<br />

or as a partner/associate of our brand. It is aimed<br />

at graphic designers, printers, developers and any<br />

external consultant or manufacturer responsible<br />

for the design, creation or production of any<br />

element owned by <strong>JoJo</strong> <strong>Tanks</strong>.

INTRODUCTION<br />

Our logo is the key building block of our identity,<br />

the primary visual element that identifies us.<br />

The signature is a combination of the the symbol<br />

itself and our company name – they have a fixed<br />

relationship that should never be changed in any<br />

way.<br />

THE FULL LOGOTYPE<br />

The <strong>JoJo</strong> <strong>Tanks</strong> masterbrand or corporate logo<br />

comprises of a “signature”. The logo symbol is<br />

a powerful image evoking the culture of design<br />

services - the connection between the strength<br />

of communication and the different points that<br />

influence it.<br />

It has a particular relationship with the <strong>JoJo</strong> <strong>Tanks</strong><br />

name. The logo type has been carefully chosen for<br />

its modern and yet refined, highly legible style,<br />

which has been further enhanced by the use of<br />

upper case letters. The typeface Montserrat Bold<br />

has been chosen to compliment and balance<br />

perfectly with the logo symbol.<br />

The corporate logo is presented through the use<br />

of colour as well as shape and form. The two<br />

corporate colours are blue and grey. It is a fresh<br />

and appealing blend of colours chosen for their<br />

strong combination: modern - classic - timeless.<br />

The colours have been selected according to<br />

international standards as shown here and are<br />

easily implemented.

THE LOGOTYPE<br />

1) <strong>JoJo</strong> <strong>Tanks</strong><br />

The <strong>JoJo</strong> <strong>Tanks</strong> “signature” is the main element in the<br />

<strong>JoJo</strong> <strong>Tanks</strong> Corporate Identity and is used to represent<br />

<strong>JoJo</strong> <strong>Tanks</strong> in all communciations.<br />

It was designed with a strong resemblance to a<br />

typeface called Mistral. The stroke has an informal<br />

graphic quality similar to brush and ink.<br />

The main logo is a “signature” and the digital fingerprint of our organisation.<br />

Use of any stylized, animated, hand drawn or other<br />

COMPUTATION<br />

It is important to keep corporate marks clear of any other<br />

graphic elements. To regulate this, an exclusion zone has been<br />

established around the corporate mark. This exclusion zone<br />

indicates the closest any other graphic element or message can<br />

be positioned in relation to the mark of the the symbol itself and<br />

our company name – they have a fixed relationship that should<br />

never be changed in any way.<br />

To work out the clearspace take the height of the logo and divide it in half.<br />

APPLICATION<br />

THE LOGO<br />

The incorrect use of the <strong>JoJo</strong> <strong>Tanks</strong> logo adversely affects the impact<br />

of our communication, as it conveys an inconsistant message. Only<br />

the use explicitly described in this manual is correct. Any variation<br />

in colour, orientation, proportion or combination is incorrect and is<br />

therefore prohibited.<br />

will be used to warrant the original purchaser of this<br />

product from a <strong>JoJo</strong> <strong>Tanks</strong>-authorized distributor<br />

that this product will be free from defects in material<br />

and workmanship under normal use and service for<br />

eight years after the date of purchase.<br />

The design is 40% <strong>JoJo</strong> <strong>Tanks</strong> grey whenever it is<br />

used on a white background, for example a<br />

Typography plays an important role in<br />

communicating an overall tone and quality. Careful<br />

use of typography reinforces our personality and<br />

ensures clarity and harmony in all <strong>JoJo</strong> <strong>Tanks</strong>’<br />

communications. We have selected Montserrat<br />

and Source Sans Pro, which help inject energy and<br />

enthusiasm into <strong>JoJo</strong> <strong>Tanks</strong>’ communications, as<br />

the primary and secondary corporate typefaces.

THE FONT<br />

The old posters and signs in the<br />

traditional neighbourhood of Buenos<br />

Aires called Montserrat inspired me<br />

to design a typeface that rescues the<br />

beauty of urban typography from the<br />

first half of the 20 th century. The goal is<br />

to rescue what is in Montserrat and set it<br />

free, under a free, libre and open source<br />

license, the SIL Open Font License.<br />

Systems. It is the first open source font<br />

the American Type Founders’ gothics<br />

by Morris Fuller Benton with both a<br />

larger x-height and character width.<br />

Typographic hierarchy is another form of visual hierarchy, a<br />

sub-hierarchy per se in an overall design project. Typographic<br />

hierarchy presents lettering so that the most important words<br />

are displayed with the most impact so users can scan text<br />

for key information. Typographic hierarchy creates contrast<br />

between elements. There are a variety of ways you can create<br />

a sense of hierarchy. Here are some of the most common<br />

Jojo <strong>Tanks</strong>’ brand voice is that of a professional<br />

who exudes knowledge and trust through<br />

technical topics being broken down into plain<br />

language. The style of English should be accessible<br />

to anyone – ranging from a private home owner to<br />

an architect or quantity surveyor, for example.

TONE OF VOICE<br />

Jojo <strong>Tanks</strong>’ tone of voice should convey the following aspects<br />

in a clear manner: Accessible and approachable people that are<br />

experts in what they do and the manner in how they do it. The<br />

underlying message should revolve around technical excellence<br />

combined with personalised approach for customers of any size.<br />

COPY GUIDELINES<br />

All copy should be written in English (United Kingdom) and<br />

slang should be avoided. Overly technical information should<br />

be simplified into an easy-to-read format that is readily<br />

understandable. All copy generated for media dissemination<br />

of any kind (print, digital and social media) should be well<br />

illustrated with relevant images and diagrams as far as a<br />

possible.

People should be shown at ease and content rather than<br />

posed, staged or overly cheerful. They should appear in natural<br />

positions and situations as if enacting a scene rather than being<br />

static and/or posed. Posing in perfect angles loses or destroys<br />

authentic connection. Do not clip people and objects out of<br />

their original environment. Do not show overly manicured<br />

environments.<br />

Lighting should look natural even if it is artificial, and we should<br />

never be able to tell a photo is lit. Overuse of studio lighting can<br />

create an inauthentic feel. Use shots that capture natural light or<br />

that use a bounce to capture available light.<br />

Allow product to provide context for the story without always<br />

being the focus of the shot.<br />

Crop an image or use a forced perspective and control depth<br />

of field to isolate subjects and emphasize their story.<br />

STAND-ALONE PRODUCT<br />

When we need to focus on a product outside of<br />

an environment, we should do so in line with<br />

our brand personality. This is achieved through<br />

a simple, honest, straightforward style. Images<br />

should be on a white background. This style<br />

allows for consistency across all transactional<br />

mediums, including advertising, product-specific<br />

collateral, online and more.

between people.<br />

If conceptual photos are necessary, they should<br />

be real and relevant to the message.<br />

Colour plays an important role in the <strong>JoJo</strong> <strong>Tanks</strong><br />

corporate identity program. The colours below<br />

are recommendations for various media. A<br />

palette of primary colours has been developed,<br />

which comprise the “One Voice” colour scheme.<br />

Consistent use of these colours will contribute<br />

to the cohesive and harmonious look of the <strong>JoJo</strong><br />

<strong>Tanks</strong> brand identity across all relevant media.<br />

The <strong>JoJo</strong> <strong>Tanks</strong> brand identity system is flexible<br />

and dynamic. There are several graphic elements<br />

included within the system that support the brand<br />

and its use in applications. There are framing and<br />

cropping variations that can be achieved with<br />

these graphic elements. We refer to components<br />

such as these as super-graphics. The examples<br />

here are meant to illustrate the origin of the super<br />

graphic and show how sections of it have been<br />

incorporated into applications. There are multiple<br />

ways these graphics can be used and they are<br />

demonstrated here and within the upcoming<br />

applications.

APPLICATION<br />

THE WAVE<br />

The wave is a secondary graphic element that can be used to<br />

support the brand identity. It focuses on the water element and<br />

its abstract reference to the main identity. This element can be<br />

used in white or in <strong>JoJo</strong> <strong>Tanks</strong> blue. The wave should always<br />

be aligned to a left or a right side of a page, and should fade<br />

from an 11% opacity to a 0% opacity on the opposite side of its<br />

high opacity entry. The shapes and proportions of the graphic<br />

element must remain consistent. Should be used in either six<br />

waves or two.<br />

THE SLANTED BLOCK<br />

The slanted block is a secondary graphic element that can be<br />

used to highlight elements. This element can be used in a <strong>JoJo</strong><br />

<strong>Tanks</strong> blue gradient, <strong>JoJo</strong> <strong>Tanks</strong> blue or white. The shapes and<br />

proportions of the graphic element must remain consistent.

ICON GRID<br />

The icon grid has been developed to facilitate consistency and establish a clear set of<br />

rules for the positioning of graphic elements. This standardization results in a flexible<br />

but coherent system.<br />

They are highly simplified to be<br />

recognisable for use at small sizes.<br />

Some of our product icons are literal,<br />

but they can also be metaphorical,<br />

symbolically representing the features of<br />

a product.<br />

Usage:<br />

Product navigation and recognition.<br />

System icons are displayed at 24dp. When creating icons, it’s important to design<br />

at 100% scale for pixel-accuracy.<br />

the sizing and placement of the <strong>JoJo</strong> <strong>Tanks</strong> logo and wave design<br />

element. The <strong>JoJo</strong> <strong>Tanks</strong> logo should appear in its one-colour<br />

version whenever possible, on light toned vehicles. For dark<br />

vehicles the one-colour white solid version should be used.<br />

It is important to evaluate the visual contrast of a vehicles<br />
