“Your ex-girlfriend is dead” is a graphic book
divided in two parts. The first presents a
straightforward timeline of feminism in the
United States that looks into sexism, the
patriarchy and the objectification of women.
The second part tells the story of women
who have been idolized by the media and
had their lives destroyed by the consequences
of objectification. Hopefully, by tearing the
beauty down and telling their real tragic stories,
the viewer will see those women as human
beings rather than icons. This is important
since the objectification and degradation that
stems from idolization reflects the way society
views all women.
