Monsanto BioAg is the commercial arm of the BioAg Alliance

that Monsanto and Novozymes formed in early 2014. The

BioAg Alliance brings together Novozymes’ and Monsanto’s

capabilities within microbial discovery, development, and

production. The BioAg Alliance is dedicated to fundamentally

enhancing the research and development of naturally derived

microbial technologies to significantly increase productivity

of the world’s crops for the benefit of agriculture, consumers,

the environment and society at large.

Together, the BioAg Alliance partners are committed to

discovering and developing transformational products that

have the potential of delivering statistically significant yield

A critical aspect of this development effort is the ongoing

It began in 2014, when the BioAg Alliance partners tested

hundreds of microbial strains in 170,000 field plots across

70 U.S. locations. The scope more than doubled in 2015,

and both partners have made a multi-year commitment to

testing thousands of microbial strains over hundreds of

thousands of yield plots.

This large-scale testing – outside the lab and in the field, over

a broad range of soil and environmental conditions – promises

to play a key role in identifying and producing new microbial

solutions that have the greatest potential to deliver transformational

results for growers and the industry as a whole.

The growth of strong,

microbes play in the life of plants.

Microbes are tiny, naturally occurring microorganisms,

In fact, one gram of soil can contain up to 10 billion
