You learn a range of practical techniques including gift-wrapping, hand-tied bouquets and constructing arrangements. You also build up your knowledge of the principles of floristry design and retailing. To support this you will need to gain industry experience, we may be able to help you find a suitable placement. You are assessed on your practical skills and written assignments. You can progress on to the Floristry BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma and/or enter the industry as an employed or self-employed Florist. The course allows me to use my creative flair and allows me to experiment with new ideas, especially when I have to produce an assortment of arrangements. As well as being an award winning gardener, I currently work part-time at a Florists which has really helped me gain experience. When I complete my course I would love to work there full-time or even start my own Floristry business.’ 30 FLORISTRY BTEC LEVEL 3 SUBSIDIARY DIPLOMA Level 3 Entitlement (or 19+ Advanced Learner Loan) may apply to you This course is excellent if you would like to build on existing knowledge in floristry or progress from the Level 2 Diploma in Floristry and further develop your skills and techniques. You learn a range of advanced practical skills including how to construct diverse wedding and sympathy designs as well as various styles of display. You also build on your knowledge of the principles of floristry design. You are assessed on your practical skills and written assignments. On completion of this course you will be able to join the industry as an employed or self-employed florist. To be accepted on to this course you will need to have completed the Floristry BTEC Level 2 Diploma or equivalent. Our tutors use practical demonstrations to guide you and inspire a great variety of ideas. Ready for Christmas, you can develop the skills needed to create floral designs including candle arrangements, wreaths and gift ideas. There is no formal assessment, so you can just enjoy learning in a relaxed atmosphere without pressure.
