ISSUE <strong>11</strong> APRIL 2016 FANTABULOUS RACE@ SVECW (National Level Racing Challenge) 15 FROM CART TO KART 16 teams from 6 different states across the nation competed, challenging one another in several t e c h n i c a l ro u n d s w i t h t h e i r e x p e r t i s e a n d i n f e c t i o u s enthusiasm. The spectators were m e s m e r i ze d w i t h t h e t a l e n t exhibited by groups. A total of Rs. Two Lakh, Twenty Thousand was given away as prize money in various categories. K u d o s t o t h e C h a m p i o n , Mechanizers 12.0 of Srinidhi Institute of Science and Technology, Hyderabad were awarded Rs. 80,000/- as prize money and a trophy. The runner-up was Acroracerz of Acropolis Technical Campus, Indore, MP won Rs. 45,000. The team swept three more awards with Best Autocross, Best Brake and Acceleration and Best skid pad and Rs.20,000, Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 10,000 respectively . The Best business plan award of Rs. 10,000 and a trophy were clinched by Juno Racers of Sri Vishnu Engineering College for Women, Bhimavaram. Best Design award of Rs. 10,000 a n d a t r o p h y w a s w o n b y Mechanizers <strong>11</strong>.0 of Srinidhi Institute of Science and Technology. Best endurance award of Rs. 35,000 and t r o p h y w a s g i v e n a w a y t o Mechanizers 12.0 of Srinidhi Institute of Science and Technology, H y d e r a b a d . B a s e d o n extraordinary performance of the teams, two surprise trophies were announced at the end of the event. Professor, MBA department, SVECW; Dr. Ch. Hari K r i s h n a , D e p t . o f Mechanical Engineering, SVECW, and Dr. S.P. Varma D e p t . o f M e c h a n i c a l E n g i n e e r i n g . T h e organizing secretaries were Mr. Sagar Chikka, and Mr. Manoneet Kumar, Project Associates, SVECW . Vice Chairman, SVES, Shri R. Ravichandran presided over the inaugural. The C h i e f g u e s t w a s S h r i Bhaskar Bhushan, IPS, Superintendent of Police, West Godavari. Principal Dr. G. Srinivasa Rao expressed his happiness that SVECW was able to host a national level Karting c h a m p i o n s h i p. H e p ro f u s e l y thanked the Vice Chairman who two years back had sown the seed of building a car among the women students of SVECW. The Vice Chairman quoted that it was the passion and enthusiasm of girl students that saw the event take off a flying start. The valedictory was presided over by the Chairman, SVES, Sri K.V. Vishnu Raju. The Chief Guest Shri NVSS Raju (former Head, Logistics, C a r g o O p e r a t i o n s Q a t a r Petroleum), and Guest of honor Sri Reddem Appaji, Bureau Chief, the H i n d u V i j a y a w a d a . I n h i s presidential address Shri KV Vishnu Raju Garu congratulated all the participants on their hard work. He specially thanked alumnus, Ms. Bindu for having injected the spirit of doing things. He said he had observed all the work of the vo l u n t e e r s w h o h ave l e a r n t creativity and managerial skills along with their engineering knowledge by organizing events such as this .The Chief Guest in his speech observed that hard work and simplicity are the qualities that engineers need to inculcate for one to excel in any field. The participants expressed their heartfelt gratitude for all the facilities and support provided. They thanked the organizers, coordinators and volunteers for all the cooperation. The women participants said they were bowled over with the facilities of the college. In fact, they felt envious of the students who study in such a fantastic environment and a management that supports the endeavors of the students.
