CSUDH Open University is an easy way for anyone to participate in regular university classes at CSU Dominguez Hills. Registration is easy - formal admission at CSUDH is not required. 2 Each class you take through Open University at CSUDH may apply toward your future degree while you enhance your professional skills and explore your personal interests. High School students who will have completed their junior year by June may register with the written support of their principal or counselor accompanying their registration form and fees. Fall Classes Begin August 20 Earning Credit Toward a Degree Through Open University Open University courses are recorded as resident credit on CSUDH transcripts and can count toward undergraduate and graduate degrees at CSUDH For further information: call 310-243-3741 or email: learn@csudh.edu or go to: www.csudh.edu/open • Take CSUDH credit courses without being admitted to the university. No transcripts, applications, or other documentation are required. Apply credits you earn to a degree later, if you wish. • Test a degree program to see if it suits your educational aspirations. • Improve your grade point average if your first attempt at college courses was less than successful. If you have been disqualified from the university or denied admission because of a grade point deficiency, you can enroll in Summer Session and get a second chance to show your true potential. • Complete requirements for a degree begun at another university. Open University Academic Program Calendar Fall Semester 2016 Aug 20 Aug 20 Sep 5 Sep 8 Sep 8 Sep 8 Sep 8 Sep 19 Sep 20 - Nov 10 Nov 11 Nov 11 - Dec 1 Nov 24-27 Dec 6 Dec 8-14 Registration begins Classes Begin Labor Day Holiday No classes; Campus closed Last day to register for Open University. Last day to pay fees Last day to add a class Last day to change grading option to Credit/No Credit Last day to apply for a refund of fees Last day to drop a class without a record of the course appearing on a student’s transcript To drop a course during this period, the signatures of two persons are required: 1) the instructor and 2) the department chairperson. The course will appear on the student’s record with a grade of “W” Veteran's Day Holiday No classes; Campus open To drop a course during this period, the signatures of three persons are required: 1) the instructor 2) the department chairperson, and 3) the school dean Refer to the University Catalog for the academic policy regarding what will appear on the student’s record. Thanksgiving Holiday, No classes; Campus closed Last day of scheduled classes Final Examinations Note: Students in the Statewide Nursing Program have a modified academic calendar; these students should consult the Statewide Nursing Program Schedule of Classes.
