Resealable option is now easier
to retrofit to existing wrappers
The developer of the
original zip applicator
for resealable packaging
has revisited the technology
to make it easier to fit to flow
wrappers while also taking
up less space.
Managing director of Line
Equipment John Blashkiw
developed the first Reseal
360XM zip applicator in
conjunction with Zip Pak.
“The original zip applicator
was developed to work
with the zipper technology
that existed at the time,”
he explains, “but Zip Pak
has not stood still with its
development of zips, and the
advent of a single self-closing
zip, without the need for a
separate male and female
band, has allowed me to
re-visit the zip applicator and
how it works.”
EASE OF FITTING
This re-visit, he says, has led
to a leap forward in the zip
applicator’s ease of fitting.
“With the ability to run the
applicator with rotary jaws in
the transverse direction,
it can now be retrofitted to
flow wrappers more easily
and also takes up less space,”
says Blashkiw.
“Existing packaging
companies who want to look
at the option of adding
resealable closures without
starting from scratch should
talk to us,” he tells Machinery
Update. “In most cases,
retrofitting a zip applicator
will not disrupt an existing line.
“We have retrofitted a zip
applicator to machines that
are well over 20 years old and
they are running on all the
major makes of machine,
both horizontal and vertical
form, fill and seal,” he says.
“We can work on bepoke
solutions for customers.”
