East Sussex DIGITAL MARKETING FEATURED AT LATEST KNOWLEDGE EVENT FSB held its latest Share the Knowledge event at the site of Identity Signage and Printing. The seminar, on digital marketing, was attended by over 35 business participants at the firm based in Westham, near Pevensey. Shea Bennett, the company’s Digital Marketing Manager presented the main event, speaking about the power of various platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat. Advice was given on content marketing and framing messages for maximum impact. He also spoke about using infographics, blogging, videos, webinars and podcasts. The event ended with a lively Q and A session and relaxed business conversations. FSB runs regular Share the Knowledge sessions through the year where members share knowledge with members. It is FSB’s chosen partner charity and in Sussex the relationship is a strong one. The culmination of the academic year is the finals where school companies come together to report and present to a business audience and are judged against their learning and achievements. Darran Hathaway, FSB’s Regional Chairman, was on the judging panel at Eastbourne for the East Sussex finals and the local Branch sponsored the Company of the Year. The award went to Initium from Ratton School, Eastbourne. Initium, an 11-strong group of Year 10 students, sourced and packaged confectionary products achieving a gross profit of £214 over the trading period. They were third at the Sussex Finals and won the award for Best Presentation. Students from Davison High School for Girls were crowned Young Enterprise Best Company at the Sussex Final (pictured), sponsored by FSB in West Sussex. The students’ company, Charm2chain, sold unique necklaces and charm bracelets. They scooped best product, best TV advert and best governance awards and made a profit of £519 over the year. Martin Searle, FSB Development Manager, East Sussex, said: “There was business quality throughout the events, from the company’s products and services to the superb presentations and their trade stands. “Undoubtedly, all the students who took part have hugely valuable skills and experiences to take them forward into the world of work and business.
