AdamsArtExpose’
POLITICAL LOGOS TODAY AND YESTERDAY
Art and politics will be prevalent for the
next 4 months. Last week was a brief history
of the logos of the political parties and
a glimpse of the logo for the Trump/Pence
campaign. Logos have an effect of creating
the brand for the candidates. They become
bumper stickers and window stickers and
posters and flyers that identify the candidates.
Hilary Clinton has just introduced her
Vice Presidential candidate but an official
logo with both of their names is not yet
available when this article is being written.
The distinctive H logo with the arrow as
the center line will probably remain as the
primary logo for Hilary. MSNBC lead into
the announcement of the nomination of
Kane with the H logo arrow pointing to
CLINTON with KANE’S name below. The
official logo for Trump/Pence was shown
last week. This is presumably the official
logo unless there is a decision to change it,
with that being a good probability, considering
the indecisiveness of Mr Trump
generally.
Hilary Clinton’s logo has been analyzed by
several design experts and they have found
it to be cleverly designed to being versatile
in application. The H being a primary
square, non distinct shape, but with the
addition of the arrow as the center line of
the H it becomes a adaptable to almost any
application with the arrow leading the way
toward slogans and other motifs that may
be promoted with the logo. As an example
with the graphic in this article, the H logo
with the arrow and then the H logo using
the colors of the gay flag.
In contrast the Trump/Pence Logo has the
T penetrating the P, providing the graphic
of dominance of Trump with Pence being
subservient or receiving if put in sexual
context. We will soon be seeing the official
Clinton/Kane logo. You can assume there
will be no penetration suggestion when
that is unveiled. Hopefully it will reveal
a convergence of two people who will be
working together to help provide a more
positive context to politics and the future
of the United States.
Hillary 2016
If you missed it, President Obama
denounced Donald Trump, while calling
on Americans to vote for Hillary Clinton
on Wednesday night. “There has never
been a man or a woman -- not me, not
Bill, nobody -- more qualified than Hillary
Clinton to serve as President of the
United States,” Obama told the Democratic
National Convention audience.
For the many people that worked for
Hillary its a job well done. From Palm
Springs Equality bus was a personal victory
fpr all those that GOT OUT AND
DID SOMETHING and not as Obama
said bitch from the sidelines.
If you want to know the history of Convention
delegates, we have a great story
for you on page 28.
Hillary Clinton made history Tuesday
night, July 26 2016, “the biggest crack in
that glass ceiling yet” by becoming the
first woman nominee of a major political
party in the United States. But sexism is
still the norm, most of the coverage still
went to Obama and Bill Clinton.
Michelle Obama started the healing by
saying many of us felt what Bernie supporters
are feeing now, “When she didn’t
win the nomination eight years ago, she
didn’t get angry, or disillusioned. Hillary
did not pack up and go home. Because
as a true public servant, Hillary knows
that this is so much bigger than her own
desires or disappointments.”
Bernie Sanders, was no sell out, winning
a tremendous amount voters and even
feeling burned by the process described
on page 28. Said emphatically “I have
known Hillary Clinton for 25 years, I
served with her in the United States Senate
and know her as a fierce advocate for
the rights of children. Hillary Clinton
will make an outstanding president, and I
am proud to stand with her.”
I want to do it because I want to
do it. Women must try to do things
as men have tried. When they fail,
their failure must be but a challenge
to others.
Amelia Earhart
But history will be written by hook or
by crook meaning “by any means necessary”
and it would be a big, dare I say
Yuge mistake not to look at the women in
your life and reflect how big this moment
really is. Your sisters, aunts and cousins,
mothers and grand mothers.
Reflect on the scale of her achievement,
let history debate the merits of her
policies, her record and your opinion
of-trustworthiness, but keep the sheer
excitement. Few are or should advocate
Hillary on solely the basis of her gender,
but if you ignore it, you will miss that
she held the largest gender gap lead ever
recored and that means something. Congratulations,
Hillary Clinton
Convention Drama?
In 1832, the first Democratic National
Convention was held in Baltimore, Maryland.
As usual, it too was a rigged nomination.
The plan for the convention was
carried out among members of Jackson’s
“Kitchen Cabinet,” warning former Secretary
of War and delegate John Eaton the
day before the convention not to vote for
anyone there except Van Buren, unless he
was prepared to “quarrel with the General
Jackson. And thus began the storied epic
battle for the Democratic Party. Some
times right and often wrong. No roll call
vote was taken to nominate Jackson for
a second term. Instead, the convention
passed a resolution stating that “we most
cordially concur in the repeated nominations
which he has received in various
parts of the union.” With 283 delegates
present voting for he Presidential nominee
Andrew Jackson of Tennessee and Vice
Presidential nominee Martin Van Buren
of New York.
in the bank and begrudgingly thanked
the democratic party for not bankrupting
this nation as she had feared since Ralph
Nader ran the green party in to the round.
But even Sarandon knows it mostly theatre
and drama, I would bet however a lot
of young democrats see a horrible system
of establishment types and fall for everything
they did. Like riling them up and the
morning so they where napping by 5pm.
Still, recent memories can point more
troublesome democratic conventions and
perhaps the word “democratic”, rightfully
confused a number of people that still
cannot seem to get its a run as a private
party with loose admission rules. Its singular
intention is to nominate and elect
the person most likely to follow the party
line.
Bad News Bears During 1968 primary season,
roughly 60 percent of delegates were
hand selected by county committeemen,
state party officers and elected officials
who would commit to Vice President
Hubert Humphrey, a loyal democrat who
was unfortunately also committed to President
Lyndon Johnson’s policy in South-
While Susan Sarandon Looked uncomfortably
constipated during most of the
Democratic National Convention, she
remembered 28 Your weekly she had LGBT 50 million Gay Desert dollars Guide. View east Asian our Free War! Digital Among Version racial on-line. strife, both

Martin Luther King and RFK were assassinated.
“The world has never been more
disorderly within memory of living man,”
journalist Walter Lippmann wrote. Inside
the convention, as Trump likes to boast
the local political machine roughed up
liberal delegates and journalists in plain
view of news cameras. While massive
protests happened outside as beckoned
by the words “won’t you please come to
Chicago”, they stormed the castle and
were repelled as a temporary bombing
halt was not adopted.
When Senator Abraham Ribicoff spoke
in protest, it was reported Mayor Richard
Daley said “Fuck you. You Jew son-ofa-bitch!”.
So I hardly think NO TPP is a
comparable protest.
Republicans have also had worse days,
such as when moderate Republicans
walked into their party’s convention
determined to block the ascendance of
Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona.
And delegates flatly rejected a moderate
amendment that would have strengthened
the party’s plank on civil right.
Some things never change. In 1924, the
DEM called the “Klanbake” convention
took 103 ballots to approve a compromise
measure that denounced intolerance generally
but avoided specific mention of the
Klan.
By 1972, the Democratic Party re-wrote
the rules governing its selection process.
Now, voters would select roughly 60 percent
of delegates by caucus or primary,
and by requirement, delegate slates would
draw from a more diverse population.
But that too was short lived as reforms
that included minorities, caused white
ethnic Democrats, to feel disenfranchised
along with most prominent Democratic
leaders who were excluded from the
convention based on party line support
during the primaries.
Ok thats was wrong so ten years later
in 1976, the party reserved a portion of
delegate slots for Democratic elected officials
dubbed “super-delegates.”
What could go wrong with that they said?
JERSEY’S JOURNAL by Jersey Shore
Once upon a time, there was this
Queen. Mind you, Queen is just a label
that you get. This Queen hasn’t earned
a thing. Her name was Peach Mango
Shithead. A talentless hack with zero
personality. Well if you want to play
the game like the Pros, and you lack
EVERY qualification, you are going to
be a manipulative, game playing fool.
And that’s how this evil Queen got her
claws in with the big fish. Well, she
swam away from her school and now
she is alone in her quest for fabulousness?
I’m not really sure how she’ll stay
afloat. I don’t think she knows either.
Well, the town was full of people with
bridges and she burned SO many
bridges, what was she going to do?
Well, Miss Calculation was very calculated.
Any time something is so
calculated, you are not dealing with
a full deck. And let me tell you, not
only was it NOT a full deck, some of
the other cards, like the old maid card
and go fish cards surfaced. This Queen
was evil, but because she acted all pure
and delicate, no one would ever know
how EVIL she was. She puts Satan to
shame.
Well, once the proof spills and you
see all the cyber bullying and head
games, not to mention destroying lives
and relationships. Physical abuse and
damage...Karma will hit and that will
be the show I watch that night!!! I stay
away from drama, but this is THE
show this summer!!!
WEEKLY GUIDE TO THE STARS
ARIES: March 20 - April 18:
Emotions aren’t things to be
something much more complicated
if left unaddressed.
TAURUS: April 19 - May 19: You
may find yourself in deep, but
you’re not a person that crumbles.
Endure it as best you can.
GEMINI: May 20 - June 19: Did
you get all your documents in order?
Loose ends could still exists
and cause delays.
CANCER: June 20 - July 21: Try
not to be so sensitive Things that
lie beneath the surface may very
well pays off in a good way. Avoid
looking to deep into good luck.
LEO: July 22 - Aug. 21: He is here.
The sooner you look, the faster
you’ll end that single streak.
VIRGO: Aug. 22 - Sept. 21: This is
your time to play in the deep end
of the pool. Still waters run deep
and your thoughts need time to
be sorted. Don’t hurry complicated
issues.
LIBRA: Sept. 22 - Oct. 21: This
is not your week for relationship
building. Don’t try too hard or
the one you want might run.
SCORPIO: Oct. 22 - Nov. 20: You
luck may change this week if your
eyes are wide open. Take time to
study all things that come your
way. The one that seems too good
might be the best option.
SAGITTARIUS: Nov. 21 - Dec.
20: Don’t let people step on your
plans this week. You have a trip
that will include an unexpected
bonus.
CAPRICORN: Dec. 21 - Jan. 18:
Some one is following you so
watch and follow back. There is a
problem your not addressing and
its causing back strain.
AQUARIUS: Jan. 19 - Feb. 17:
Keep a problem to yourself if its
the other person, if its impacting
you let it out. You are the big
truck to help everyone else but
few can help you, conserve some
energy for you.
PISCES: Feb. 18 - March 19: Wow
last week was a tailspin right? But
you hung in there and got it all
done. Try to remember this the
next time it all seems hopeless
because now you know Scarlet,
tomorrow in another day!
THAT IS FUNNY
Why is it so hard for women to find men that are sensitive, caring, and good-looking? Because those men
already have boyfriends. Oh, you’re straight? Well, so is spaghetti until it gets hot and wet.
Did you hear about the gay security guard who got fired from his job at the sperm bank? Because he got
caught drinking on the job.
My friends say that I’m gay because I don’t like football. What a bunch of idiots. I’m gay because I like cock
99% of women say they don’t like men who wear leather pants. Which works out perfectly, since 100% of
men who wear leather pants don’t like women.
How many gays does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Two. One to screw it in and another to stand around
and say ‘FABULOUS!’
Parody Trump LOVE PUTIN
THE LAST WORD by Greg Pettis
Ok – I knew I should have been taking notes
all week while the Republican convention was
happening in Cleveland, but I figured that for
once the ego-maniacal Trump would let the professionals
run show. NOT! OMG – what a farce.
From chants of “lock her up” to a state representative
actually calling for Secretary Clinton to be
taken out and shot (he is now being questioned
by the Secret Service) to Senator Ted Cruz refusing
to endorse his party’s nominee to Governor
Kasich refusing to even go to the convention is
HIS OWN STATE – who is running actually
allowing all this to go on? The party’s platform
actually has one of the most anti – LGBT planks
in recent history. And now there’s talk that, god
forbid, Trump is elected he is going to name
Chris Christie as Attorney General as a consolation
prize for being rejected for VP! Oh Lord!
The City of Cleveland did a marvelous job keeping
order. Sadly, they had to have 3,000 police
officers in the streets around the convention
center. Ohio has an open carry law so folks actually
brought their guns to a political convention!
I would hate to see the bill for over time and
what that will do for the city’s budget.
The Democrats and Mrs. Clinton, on the other
hand, watched in glee on the sidelines as the
Republicans continued to devour their own.
She spoke at a number of events around the
country and finished the week naming Senator
Tim Kaine of Virginia as her running mate.
A strong leader, he has been a councilman, a
Mayor, a Governor, Senator and now probably
the next Vice President of the United States. He
went on the Richmond City Council in 1994, the
same year I joined the council in Cathedral City.
Hmmmm, I feel like such a failure!
The Clinton/Kaine ticket is strongly pro-LGBT,
in favor of common sense gun measures, pro-environment
and willing to buck Wall Street.
While I was wishing that out Lesbian Senator
Tammy Baldwin would be the nominee, Tim
Kaine will be outstanding.
As I write this I am just a few hours from getting
on a plane at Palm Springs airport to fly to
Philadelphia for the convention. I will be taking
notes so I don’t forget anything. Mayor Moon
and Councilwoman Foat from Palm Springs will
be there as well, so we should have a good time.
Locally filling has opened for city council seats
throughout the valley. In Cathedral City all the
incumbents have turned in their papers and
are getting a strong start in the campaign (that
would be myself, John Aguilar and Mayor Stan
Henry). Additionally, in Cathedral City there
will be two measures on the ballot; the first to
become a Charter City to help protect ourselves
from the state messing around with us and to
strengthen local rule and also a tax on marijuana
cultivation. I’ll keep everyone posted on those
things as time progresses.
Greater Palm Springs Pride is beginning to
prepare for the 35th annual parade and festival
the first week of November. The same weekend
will be the 11th annual Healing Field commemoration
in Cathedral City at Patriot Park honoring
our fallen military. Look for big crowds
throughout the valley. Keep moving forward.
Great things happening!
Greg Pettis is a 22 year city councilman in Cathedral
City. He has made his name in governmental circles
as an expert in transportation issues and is very active
in working on bringing passenger rail service to the
COACHELLA Valley. Greg was the first openly gay
elected city council members In Riverside County. He
has served on the boards of the National League of
Cities and the League of California Cities and as President
of the Southern CA Association of Governments.
