Note from Fr. Tom
Dear Friends of the Franciscan Center for Urban Ministry,
May the Lord give you peace.
Welcome to the 20 th Annual Golf Outing for the Franciscan Center. I
thank you for your sharing with us in the many good works that are a
part of our mission. It is humbling for me to realize how committed
you are to the ways in which the Center attempts to nurture the spirit,
mind and body of so many people.
I thank our Golf Committee for the hours of work and for the innovation
that you find in this year’s experience. We are hoping to have a
record event with our new raffle. We also recognize the passing of
one of our first members of the Golf Committee, Rico Pace. We are
grateful for his spirit and dynamism and are certain that he is with us
today.
I thank you for your participation in the dynamic spirit of the City of
Hartford. This is our single largest fund raiser for the Franciscan Center.
With your help we will continue to make and distribute sandwiches,
welcome a variety of not-for-profit groups, create a home for
women in transition, a space for mentors to encourage children from
our city, educational programs, and events that foster greater community.
This is a day when everyone wins!
I thank Scot Haney for his continued assistance by his presence and his
service as our Auctioneer.
You are the hope of the many people who come to our door seeking
human kindness as they find nourishment for body, mind, and spirit.
Peace and all good,
Fr. Tom Gallagher, ofm
Pastor

Chairman’s Letter
Dear Sponsors, Golfers and Friends,
The St. Patrick-St. Anthony Charity Golf Tournament is celebrating
its 20 th anniversary this year. The popularity of this tournament and
its substantial support of the Urban Ministry is directly related to
work of the tireless volunteers that have served over those 20 years.
In addition, we should recognize the generous, annual donations of
our numerous benefactors who come from both Hartford and the
numerous surrounding towns. We are so blessed to be part of this
incredibly welcoming church and community. We are deeply
thankful for your commitment to ensure that the many groups the
Urban Ministry supports, are able to benefit from your generosity.
Our sponsor book acknowledges many businesses and individuals
who have participated year after year in the support of our event.
Please take time to browse through this sponsor book and offer your
congratulations and support to these businesses and individuals that
have so generously contributed to this vital event.
Thank you all so very much!
God Bless,
Joanna Penta

The Franciscan Center for Urban Ministry is a non-profit
501(c)(3) tax Exempt Agency that serves the alienated and
poor in the city of Hartford. Below are just a few of the
Center programs.
Partner with the House of Bread located on Chestnut Street in
Hartford to feed the hungry .
Adventure Saturday Mentor Program provides a place for
children from the North End of Hartford to have fun —
keeping them off dangerous streets in marginalized
neighborhoods.
Make and serve sandwiches to the homeless and working
poor of Hartford 365 days a year.
With Mercy Housing & Shelter, housing, food and support is
provided to homeless women in recovery at Catherine’s
Place.
Health services to the homeless and needy through our
Wellness Center on Church Street — a partnership with the
University of Saint Joseph.
FREE meeting space is provided to
non-profit organizations that would otherwise drain precious
resources to rent space for necessary functions.
We are a critical downtown site for
Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous and Al-
Anon Meetings.
We help feed and educate children in one of the poorest
countries in the world by sponsoring a Sister Parish in
Zoranje, Haiti.

Take my hand
And lead me to salvation
Take my love
For love is everlasting
And remember
The truth that once was spoken
To love another person
Is to see the face of God.

An Irish Blessing
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sunshine warm your face,
and the rain fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
may God hold you in the
palm of his hand. Amen
In Loving Memory of
Brian Sullivan

In Loving Memory of
José M and Dulce V Martins
When you lived your life for others,
and you loved without condition
When you made so many laugh,
and your smile won’t be forgotten
When you left behind an empty place
that no one else can fill
When the friendships that you shared
long to be renewed
When you built your life on hope
and fulfilled it every day
The footprints that you left behind
will bring us face to face
So, goodbye is not forever, You’re only steps away.
We miss you both and know you are watching over us.
Love,
Jack & Helen
