Helen Knights has been working

with booking agencies across

the UK as National Agency Sales

Manager for QHotels for the last

three years.

What attracted you

to this industry?

I have worked in

hospitality since I was

14 years old and I've

always loved it.

This industry is incredibly

sociable, fast paced,

competitive and constantly

changing. It has a ‘pull’

that attracts so many

different people to it and

there's many opportunities.

Once this industry has

got you, that's it! It’s like

Pringles, once you pop,

you can't stop!

What is the funniest

thing you have heard/

experienced at work?

At QHotels we do a

January sales kick off

conference. One year

we had Team Spirit come

in and surprise the team

with a warm up exercise

which was the Haka!

100 people including

our Director of Sales (left)

doing the actions and

noise was hilarious!

Definitely woke us all up!

What one word best

describes you?

What are the best/worse

things about your job?

The best things are

working on new enquiries

and bookings and then

confirming new business!

I love meeting new

customers, keeping in

touch with our current

clients with updates and

working with all the hotel

teams. I travel to lots of

different locations across

the UK, attending industry

events as well as visiting

our hotels. I love that

every day is different.

The downside is I have

to make my bedroom

look like a hotel bedroom

so I have lots and lots of

scatter cushions!

What is your favourite holiday

destination and why?

ITALY Pizza, pasta, wine and ice

cream! Plus great handbags, scenery

and sunshine!

Shoes!

Handbags!

Can you name one thing not

many people know about you?

This is difficult as I am pretty

much an open book but a little

secret I can share is - and I hope

my husband doesn’t read this -

I own over 80 pairs of shoes!

advice you have been given?

"Two ears

one mouth!"

Learning to listen has been invaluable to me.

I changed my mind

so many times from a

doctor to a teacher to a vet!
