Umuagwo in Ohaji/
Egbema Local
Government Area of the
state, were reportedly
burnt to death, Wednesday.
Vanguard gathered that
the students, whose
names could not be
ascertained at press time,
had completed their
Higher National
Diploma, HND,
examination and were
looking forward to going
for the mandatory
National Youth Service
Corps, NYSC, before
tragedy struck.
Another version linked
their death to a robbery
attack.
One student told
Vanguard: “There was a
robbery attack in the
hostel of the students.
Hoodlums stormed the
hostel Wednesday night
and robbed the inmates.”
The student recounted
that after robbing the
inmates of their valuables
at gunpoint, the two
unfortunate students
were tied up in their room
and set ablaze.
“We were told that the
two students were
equally robbed, tied in
their room and set ablaze
by the rampaging armed
men, before fleeing the
scene,” the student said.
Meanwhile, Public
Relations Officer of the
institution, Mr.
Darlington Oparaocha,
has confirmed the
incident to newsmen.
He said: “It is true that
two of our students have
been reported dead. The
incident occurred in a
hostel close to the
school.”
According to the PRO,
the deceased students,
who just concluded their
HND programme, may
have met their death after
a yet-to-be identified
incident.
The PRO said the
school management was
yet to ascertain if the
students died because of
cult-related activities or
armed robbery.
“We cannot say
definitively if they died of
cult-related activities or
sheer armed robbery.
Their bodies have been
deposited in a nearby
morgue,” the PRO said.

Auto parts dealer kills business
partner over N1.4m goods

A
businessman in Warri,
Delta State, yesterday,
made a shocking confession of
how he killed a business
associate and buried him in a
shallow grave to avoid paying
N1.4 million for goods
supplied.
The deceased, Lawrence
Okoh, a native of Ubulu-Uku,
in Aniocha South Local
Government Area of the state,
was reportedly last seen on
August 2, after he left his base
in Port Harcourt, Rivers State,
for Warri, where he went to
supply power generating sets
to his customers.
However, he was said to have
sent a text message to his wife,
informing her of his decision
to pass the night with one of
his customers.
Apprehension set in next day,
when efforts to reach him on
his telephone failed,
consequent upon which his
wife contacted police.
His wife was said to have
accompanied some policemen
to Delta State, where the house
of the customer, whose address
he (deceased) had sent to his
wife earlier, was searched.
Denial
But the occupant, one
Kingsley Ogbaire, confirmed
being supplied some parts, but
claimed Okoh never spent the
night with him.
Thereafter, detectives were
said to have raided the spare
parts market in Warri, where
the missing man’s wife
identified some of the parts as
those supplied by her husband.

During interrogation, the
arrested traders disclosed that
the goods were supplied to
them by Ogbaire, who was
subsequently arrested.

we have exhumed the body.”
