COSMYTHOLOGY
THE CREATION OF OUR UNIVERSE
INTRODUCTION
The evocative mystical essence and beauty that
the creation myths contain has been watered down
by the analytical and data based deconstruction
done by science of the creation process This
project is a visual narrative in the form of a series
of illustrations bound together in an accordion fold
book and is based on an interpretive mythification
of the Big Bang theory.
In the beginning there was darkness. Nothing existed but
a floating Spirit. After having wandered in the endless
expanse for a long period the Spirit tried speeding time
to see if the future held something. The Spirit did so by
placing its palms in front of each other and rotated them in
opposite directions. A hot ball of fire, burning and spinning
extremely fast, ignited in its palms. The space between
started heating up and a rapid burst of energy shook it awake
from a deep state of meditation. Darkness permeated, yet
again. However, a bright light illuminated its chest and an
immense ripple of heat expanded through its form. Burning
and trickling through in a luminous yellow wave, the heat
slowly materialized and transformed the spirit’s amorphous
form into a feminine humanlike figure. As she transformed
further, everything that was contained within her , began dematerializing
and started burning off layers of skin, making
her clench and curl up in pain.
The heat and pain slowly dwindled into the darkness. She
observed her new skin and form for the first time. A strange
murky colour began engulfing her arms, legs and devoured
her entire body. She touched a spot gently and saw the odd
colour submerge under a mesmerizing yellow glow. Her
hands flowed and brushed onto every part of her body until
the murkiness subsided, leaving her glowing with energy.
At last, everything seemed at rest but a slight pulsating
sensation started magnifying in the centre of her face. She
instinctively rubbed her face and felt the motion give rise to
a pair of eyes, a nose, two ears and a mouth supported by a
set of lips. The tingling trickled its way to the top of her head
and transformed into fast growing strands of hair that, in
seconds, flooded the darkness.
As she floated through the enthralling galactic strands of
hair, she realized that there were changes still taking place
within them. She swam in the chaotic mess of her galactic
hair and zoomed in to find round fiery objects colliding with
each other. The fireballs reminded her of the big explosion
which gave her the new form. She wondered if there
were smaller versions of her being created in these fiery
round objects and observed them from a more zoomed in
perspective. What she was staring at was the sun and two
small molten balls of fire. One of them was approaching the
other at a great speed. The collision resulted in the formation
of a scorching hot raw Earth and the residue gave birth to the
moon. She was now certain that her miniature version would
be inside the planet Earth as she was also created from the
collision of her spirit self and the ball of fire.
As she picked up the Earth, it blazed and burnt her hands
making her eyes water. Big drops of tears escaped her eyes
and fell straight into the earth creating pools of water. Her
fingers started throbbing. She blew on them and the cool
wind crossed over towards the earth. The earth began to spin,
the moon shifted closer creating huge tides and a mega storm
broke out and started cooling the Earth.
The bright hot orange was now replaced with calm and
soothing shades of blue. She leaned closer and looked at it
suspiciously. Surely enough, hot orange liquid spewed up
from underneath the water, gulping it down and creating
small floating islands. To prevent the Earth catching fire
again, she blew on it until it became a frozen ball of ice.
Earth was now bearable and resembled a beautiful round
marble. She picked it up and looked within it but couldn’t
see past all the ice. So, she rubbed it until all the ice melted
and a naked earth was revealed. Finally being able to see
its contents, she enthusiastically looked within for a being
similar to her but there was nothing except vast oceans and
pieces of land. Her heart sank. Disappointed, she placed it
back where it belonged and let out a long sigh. Breath! The
difference between her spirit and her new form was that now
she had breath! She inhaled deeply, caught it in her palms
and poured it into the earth. Her breath seeped through the
ocean and small green plants started sprouting up. In an
ocean full of her breath, small green plants rose and swayed
along with the waves but that was not all. An intriguing
creature, breathing and moving, crawled amidst them. Life on
earth had finally begun to blossom.
Nothing existed but a floating Spirit.
The Higgs Field was the only thing that
existed before the Big Bang explosion.
In the beginning there was darkness.
After having wandered in the endless expanse
for a long period the Spirit tried speeding time
to see if the future held something.
The Spirit did so by placing its palms in
front of each other and rotated them
in opposite directions. A hot ball of fire,
burning and spinning extremely fast,
ignited in its palms.
The space between started heating up and a
rapid burst of energy shook it awake from a
deep state of meditation.
A sudden unknown surge of energy had
resulted in the big bang
Darkness permeated, yet again.
Burning and trickling through in a luminous
yellow wave, the heat slowly materialized
and transformed the spirit’s amorphous
form into a feminine humanlike figure.
(When particles interacted with the Higgs
Field, they obtained mass. The more the
interaction, the higher the mass. Similarly,
the Spirit began gaining mass when the
light entered its chest.)
However, a bright light illuminated its chest
and an immense ripple of heat expanded
through its form.
(The explosion contained numerous
particles that began interacting with each
other and the Higgs Field.)
As she transformed further, everything
that was contained within her , began dematerializing
and started burning off layers of
skin, making her clench and curl up in pain.
Matter was created and so was antimatter.
Both started colliding and
destroying each other. The Spirit’s form
had started pealing and scarring due to
this collision. At the end a slight luck
played its role and matter triumphed.
She touched a spot gently and saw the odd
colour submerge under a mesmerizing yellow
glow. Her hands flowed and brushed onto every
part of her body until the murkiness subsided,
leaving her glowing with energy.
Due to the instability of the new nuclei and their collision,
a dense opaque plasma of protons, neutrons and electrons
was formed. Finally, electrons were able to combine with
the nuclei and the absorption of free electrons caused the
universe to become brighter and clearer.
The heat and pain slowly dwindled into the
darkness. She observed her new skin and
form for the first time. A strange murky
colour began engulfing her arms, legs and
devoured her entire body.
Particles began combining. Quarks
combined to form Protons and
neutrons, Protons and Neutrons
combined to form Atoms.
At last, everything seemed at rest but
a slight pulsating sensation started
magnifying in the centre of her face.
Stars were the next pieces in the
cosmic puzzle. Atoms heavier
than helium and hydrogen such as
Carbon, magnesium, oxygen etc,
were created in the heart of stars.
She instinctively rubbed her face and felt
the motion give rise to a pair of eyes, a nose,
two ears and a mouth supported by a set
of lips. The tingling trickled its way to the
top of her head and transformed into fast
growing strands of hair that, in seconds,

As she floated through the enthralling
galactic strands of hair, she realized that
there were changes still taking place within
them. She swam in the chaotic mess of her
galactic hair and zoomed in to find round
fiery objects colliding with each other.
The spirit’s featured developed out of these
stars. These stars clumped together to form
galaxies or in this creation myth, the hair.
The collision resulted in the formation of a
scorching hot raw Earth and the residue gave
birth to the moon. She was now certain that
her miniature version would be inside the
planet Earth as she was also created from the
collision of her spirit self and the ball of fire.

As she picked up the Earth, it blazed and burnt
her hands making her eyes water. Big drops of
tears escaped her eyes and fell straight into the
earth creating pools of water.
Meteorites carried within them tiny
crystals of water that created oceans
on the earth’s hot surface.
The earth began to spin, the moon shifted
closer creating huge tides and a mega storm
broke out and started cooling the Earth.
A mega storm whipped up by the
planet’s rapid rotation and the moon’s
overwhelming gravity and its proximity
resulted in huge tides
Her fingers started throbbing. She blew
on them and the cool wind crossed over
towards the earth.
The bright hot orange was now replaced
with calm and soothing shades of blue.
After the storm, the earth cooled down
just enough to form the crust. However
its surface was still volatile and the crust
started heating up.
Surely enough, hot orange liquid spewed
up from underneath the water, gulping it
down and creating small floating islands. To
prevent the Earth catching fire again, she
blew on it until it became a frozen ball of ice.
Molten rocks tore through the earth’s
crust and the lava cooled to form
volcanic islands.
She leaned closer and looked at it
suspiciously.
Earth was now bearable and resembled a
beautiful round marble. She picked it up
and looked within it but couldn’t see past
all the ice. So, she rubbed it until all the ice
melted and a naked earth was revealed.
Volcanic eruptions overtime release Carbon
dioxide which mixed with water to make acid
rain which got absorbed by the rocks along with
the carbon dioxide. Temperature plummets to
negative degrees and earth experiences the
coldest ice age to have ever gripped the planet.
Her heart sank. Disappointed, she placed it back
where it belonged and let out a long sigh.
Finally being able to see its contents, she
enthusiastically looked within for a being
similar to her but there was nothing except
vast oceans and pieces of land.
Breath! The difference between her
spirit and her new form was that now
she had breath!
Earlier on the rocks had absorbed
the Carbon dioxide but were now
covered in ice, thus it started filling
the atmosphere and trapped the sun’s
warmth resulting in the melting of ice.
Revealing huge oceans and islands.
Her breath seeped through the ocean and
small green plants started sprouting up.
In an ocean full of her breath, small green
plants rose and swayed along with the
waves but that was not all.
She inhaled deeply, caught it in her palms
and poured it into the earth.
An intriguing creature, breathing and
moving, crawled amidst them. Life on earth
had finally begun to blossom.
While the planet was frozen, the sun’s UV
rays reacted with water molecules in the
ice to produce a chemical rich in oxygen
called Hydrogen Peroxide. In an ocean full of
oxygen, primitive bacteria evolved giving rise
to plants and living organisms.
