Arts
We are delighted to have Sean Murray designing
a new special garden for The Northumbria hospital
which is expected to open in the autumn.
The garden will be located near the chapel and is
intended to provide a welcoming tranquil space for
staff, patients and families to enjoy and find respite.
Sean, a former employee of Northumbria
Healthcare, won The Great Chelsea Garden
Challenge last year which saw his garden feature
at the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
Two embroideries showing the ‘tree of life’ have
gone on display at The Northumbria hospital.
The embroideries, which can be seen in the main
entrance area and restaurant, were created by a
group of women following a series of community
workshops.
Nearly 30 people contributed to the artworks,
including staff, volunteers and children.
Thank you to everyone involved.
Gifted
Last year just over £300,000 was gifted to
75 projects across the trust through our
Charity Development Groups.
The patient is at the centre of the charity’s work
and projects that improve comfort, enhance the
environment, or introduce new and innovative
methods of treatment are well supported. In
2015, the Hexham oncology unit was able to
transform patient care with the introduction of
new infusion pumps and comfortable chairs for
patients undergoing chemotherapy (pictured).
