CR Magazine - Autumn 2016

Autumn 2016 issue of the Chicago REALTOR® (CR) Magazine the official publication of the Chicago Association of REALTORS®.

PRESIDENT’S

PRESIDENT’S PERSPECTIVE It has been my honor to serve as your 132 nd Chicago Association of REALTORS ® President. In partnership with our wonderful Board of Directors and staff, we’ve accomplished so much this year. As I mentioned in my inaugural speech, our founders’ stated purpose was to unite the real estate professionals of America. In order to advance this purpose, I set a goal for us to strengthen our relationship with Illinois REALTORS ® and the National Association of REALTORS ® , as we are united in the fi ght for our industry and in protecting private property rights. Our upcoming move to the REALTOR ® Building at 430 N. Michigan will give members incredible opportunities to collaborate with the local, state and national levels of the REALTOR ® family. In addition, Illinois REALTORS ® will actually have an offi ce in our space, as well. I am so proud of the success of our partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. We put out the call for help, and you answered! Our YPN has been fundraising all year and helped with volunteer efforts. Volunteers and staff threw a carnival for the Chicago clubs in August, and we just completed a successful school supplies drive. Thank you for getting involved in our community, and thank you for rising to the challenge! See why your peers invest in RPAC. In reflecting on all we’ve accomplished this year, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the incredible work of our volunteers. We have over 253 volunteers. Our growing membership is well-served by the time and talents of our volunteer leadership and committees. We held the fi rst annual thank you party for our volunteers in June and honored all of the Committees whose membership reached 100 percent participation with the REALTORS ® Political Action Committee (RPAC). I also want to acknowledge my fellow directors for their engagement and incredible dedication to our Association. From answering press inquiries to representing C.A.R. at various community events, everyone rolled up their sleeves and answered the call to serve. It has been an honor to work with you, and I look forward to what is to come in the next year! The quote from Benjamin Franklin, “If we don’t hang together, then we shall certainly hang separately,” is very apropos for this year. By hanging together, we have accomplished a great deal. Thank you all for everything you have done to make this an incredible year. Here’s to an even better 133 rd for all of the members of the Chicago Association of REALTORS ® !
