Lebendig, offen, trendig, grün –
es gibt unzählige Wörter, mit denen
man die Stadt Kopenhagen und
ihre Einwohner treffend umschreiben
könnte.
Mit den Kopenhagenern kommt
man schnell ins Gespräch. Sie
wissen das Leben in vollen Zügen zu
geniessen – scheint die Sonne,
strömen sie hinaus und feiern auf
der Königin-Louise- Brücke spontane
Pop-up-Partys, setzen sich
an die Ufer von Christianshavn
und kühlen sich in
den Hafenbädern mitten in
der Stadt ab. Abends trifft
man sich dann im pulsierenden
Vesterbro im Meatpacking
District, DEM
Ausgehviertel Kopenhagens.
Früher eine Arbeitergegend,
reihen sich hier
heute in alten Schlachthäusern
Bars und Clubs an
Restaurants und Galerien.
Und egal wo die Einwohner
hingehen, das heissgeliebte Fahrrad
ist praktisch immer dabei.
Knapp 400 Kilo meter Velowege
exis tieren heute bereits. Und
Kopenhagen wäre nicht Kopenhagen,
wenn der nächste Superlativ
nicht bereits angepeilt wäre: Bis
2025 will man die erste CO₂-freie
Stadt der Welt werden – überall wird
geplant und umgebaut. Ambitioniert
ist man auch. Ja, die Dänen
wissen einfach, wie’s geht … •
Sweet delights at Andersen Bakery
Lively, open, green, hip: there are
so many feel-good words that
aptly describe the city of Copenhagen
and its inhabitants.
The locals are real easy to get
into conversation with here. And
they clearly know how to enjoy life
to the full: as soon as the sun
appears, they’re out in their hordes
holding pop-up parties on Queen
Louise’s Bridge, sitting on the shore
at Christianshavn and
cooling off at the various
harbour baths
in the heart of the city.
And the evenings will
find them in vibrant
Vesterbro in the Meatpacking
District, the
former working-class
quarter which is THE
place to go: the old
slaughterhouses are
now home to a vast
range of bars, clubs,
restaurants and art galleries.
Wherever they go, though, the
Copenhageners tend to get there
by bike. The city already has almost
400 kilometres of cycle paths. And
Copenhagen wouldn’t be Copenhagen
if it didn’t have its next
super lative in sight: by 2025 it wants
to be the world’s first CO₂-free city,
and planning is under way all over
to achieve this eco-objective.
Ambitious? Sure. But the Danes
seem to have a knack for it … •
