Debra Swan is Associate Vice President of Federal Government Affairs<br />
at the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She is the<br />
lead lobbyist for the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and<br />
works with the CEO, Board of Directors, AANP Policy Committee, and<br />
other internal groups to develop a comprehensive strategy and approach<br />
to address the legislative and regulatory issues and concerns of nurse<br />
practitioners, and continually strives to increase the involvement and<br />
awareness of nurse practitioners and AANP’s members in these areas.<br />
Debra is the primary logistical manager of the annual AANP Health<br />
Policy Conference in Washington, DC, and works with the committee to<br />
plan and implement the program. She proudly serves as AANP’s liaison<br />
to the White House Joining Forces Initiative. Having lived in Washington,<br />
DC for over two decades, Debra has developed a wide network of<br />
bipartisan contacts in the U.S. Congress. She served as a Capitol Hill<br />
Staff member for former Indiana Congressman and House Majority<br />
Whip, John Brademas and was appointed by former Virginia Governor<br />
and now Senator Mark Warner to the Citizens Advisory Council for<br />
Furnishing and Interpreting the Executive Mansion in Richmond, VA for<br />
a five year term. Debra has a keen ability to deliver a passionate message<br />
on behalf of Nurse Practitioners to Congressional members and their<br />
staff as well as Government agencies and The Administration.<br />
