Frequently Asked Newborn Questions

1) When should I schedule my newborn session with you?

In order to provide the quality experience my clients have come to expect, I take

a limited amount of sessions each month. Often times my schedule is full 3-6

months in advance so the sooner you book the better chance you will have at

securing a spot.

2) How do I book my session with you?

After you have looked through my portfolio and you are ready to book a session

with me, I will send you an invoice for the deposit. This deposit will guarantee you

a spot on my schedule during the month you are due. Once your baby arrives we

will schedule the actual session.

3) How soon after I have my baby should I contact you?

I do ask that you get in touch as soon as possible so that I can start the process

of planning and setting up for your session. We will want to photograph your new

baby between days 6-10 so the sooner I am contacted the better!

4) My baby is really fussy and I am worried he/she will not sleep. Will this

be a problem?

Occasionally I have babies in the studio that are fussy for various reasons. Often

times it is simply gas and other times they have a very strong urge to suck. For

these 2 reasons I require all my clients to bring gas drops to the session as well

as a pacifier. If you forget to bring a pacifier I have extras on hand and will use it

if necessary.

*If baby still will not sleep even though he/she has been fed, burped etc., I will

continue with the session but skip posed shots for wrapped shots.

5) My baby sleeps all the time so I do not think it should be a problem….

That would be dream for me! However, most babies are not used to being naked

and posed at the same time. For that reason, I ask you to please follow all the

guidelines in the prep packet so we can maximize all of your baby’s sleepy time.

6) I have a bunch of props and outfits from Etsy. Can I bring those?

I have simple props and lots of outfits, hats, and headbands in my studio so I do

ask that no outside props are brought in. All of the props and outfits I use are

handcrafted especially for newborn photography so they are a perfect fit. *If you

have a sentimental item or family heirloom please contact me prior to your

session and we can discuss incorporating that into your photos.

7) Where will the newborn session take place and how long do they take?

All sessions are held inside my home studio which is located in West Wichita.

Most newborn sessions take between 1-4 hours depending on the type of

session you booked. Sessions with siblings do take longer which is why I ask that

the siblings only be present during their portion of the session (The family

portion is held at the end of the session).

8) Why should I book with you?

I have been specializing in newborn photography for the past 3 years. My

business has grown tremendously since then which has given me the opportunity

to photograph hundreds of babies! Along with numerous workshops and

seminars I have attended, I have also been trained by some of the best newborn

photographers in the country - and quite possibly in the world. My training has

allowed me to learn how to properly and safely pose newborns as well as learn

techniques for soothing and handling your newborn in the most gentle way

possible. Newborn photography is my passion and it is my honor to capture this

fleeting moment for my clients!
