Great, great grandfather Topalis’ barber shop in
Constantinople, Turkey
Year: 1920
It is thought that the two young girls (circled) are Theodora
Dorothy and Marika (Mary). The others remain a mystery.
The person whose face is obscured may be Katina.
This photo was taken before Katina departed with her
daughters for Greece to gain passage on a ship bound for
NYC.

There is writing in Greek on the back of the photo but it is
obstructed by remnants of the album page that are stuck to it.
One day I will try to steam that off and see if the writing can be
read and translated. I am hoping that it will give us a timeine
as to when this photo was taken.
I can only identify 3 people in this photo.
The little girls are (left) is Marika (Mary) and (right)
Theodora (Dorothy). Woman on the left is their
mother, Katina Alexiades.

This is believed to be the
engagement photo of
Katina Topalis & George
Alexiades.
I think it is their wedding
photo.
