My name is Holly. I am the owner of The Beauty Boutique. I started my salon with one
chair, and a dream. I am thankful everyday that I am able to be part of a career that not
only lets me be creative, it also lets me help others feel good about themselves. When
someone walks into the salon having a bad day, seeing a smile on their face because
they love their hair, that is the best part about my job because in that moment they feel
amazing. The Beauty Boutique started out in 2009, as a mobile salon service . 4 years
later on March 13, 2013, it turned into a beautiful home-based salon, which won Platinum
in the 2013 Readers Choice Awards for Best Hair Salon. After 2 years of hard work,
dedication and passion for my craft, I was able to build a successful business and
fortunate enough to meet amazing people who became loyal clients and great friends of
mine. Surrounded by encouragement and support I moved my salon from my basement
to a retail space and opened The Beauty Boutique on August 1st, 2015. It felt absolutely
amazing to open the doors of The Beauty Boutique and during that year, the salon won
Platinum for the second year in a row in the 2014 Reader's Choice Awards. As the salon
continued to grow, My Fiance and I took advantage of another business expansion
opportunity and relocated the small Boutique to a large 6 chair salon on August 1st 2015,
where we won Platinum in the 2016 Reader's Choice Awards for Best Hair Salon . Since
relocating, our salon has grown and we have added highly trained stylists to our Beauty
Team, whom I am very proud of. They work extremely hard and they genuinely care about
you and your hair. This has been quite the journey and I can't wait to see what comes
next. I am thrilled to have come so far in this industry and I am thankful to everyone who
supports the salon. It all started with one chair and a dream - and none of it would be

Every day we see clients struggle with hair problems and we want to help! Here are some of
the most common questions clients ask us, and we've got answers!
Why is my hair so frizzy?
Frizz occurs as a result of your hair lacking moisture. Lack of moisture can
be caused by many reasons including improper hair product choice,
medication, frequent hot tool usage or from over-processing your hair with
chemicals that damage the cuticle. Try our L'ANZA Moisture line to remedy
this. Our Moisture products are gentle on the hair, help your hair colour
last longer and contain Tahitian Tamanu Nut Extract for intense moisture.

Does not washing my hair before a colour help
my colour last longer?
Nope, when your hair isn't washed, the buildup of your oils can actually coat
your hair strands and cause your colour to not take as well as if it were
clean. Especially if you use commercial brand shampoos that have fillers
and thickeners like sulphates, those cause a lot more buildup on top of
your natural oils, which make your hair even harder to penetrate. L'ANZA
doesn't use any of those fillers in their products, it's all organic and plant
based. Colour will penetrate clean hair better!

Why does my blonde turn yellow?
Blonde can turn yellow from the minerals in your water, especially if
you are using well water, It can turn yellow by harsh chemicals from
smoking and the sun can also cause the hair to have a brassy tinge.
When pigment is lifted from the hair, the warm undertones can
shine through. The good news is that your blonde doesn't need to
stay brassy. You can visit us at the salon for a toner to help
counteract the yellow pigments and continue with at-home
maintenance by using our L'ANZA brightening shampoo. It has a
strong violet pigment that will work to control any warm tones that
appear inbetween your salon visits.

Every year, I get dandruff during winter. Why?

Dandruff can be a result of dryness on the scalp. This happens
more in the winter because the cold zaps the natural moisture
from hair/scalp, hence
-hair having static and dry flakes forming, I
would suggest the L'ANZA Moisture line to really quench your
hair's thirst. It will seal the moisture back within the hair and
scalp which will in turn prevent your scalp from forming
dandruff... However If there is no dryness/static in your hair then I
would suggest the L'ANZA Remedy line to regulate the PH balance
of the scalp, help cellular turnover and soothe Irritation
Why won't my hair grow?
Your hair is actually always growing it just may not seem like it if you
have split ends. A split end is when a strand of your hair splits into
two or more fragments and breakage occurs. Your hair should be
trimmed every 6 - 8 weeks to ensure your ends stay strong in order to
grow. For maximum hair growth, I would recommend using the L'ANZA
Nourish shampoo, which brings circulation to the scalp and keeps the
hair in the growing stage, paired with the L'ANZA Strength
conditioner,, which boosts elasticity and reduces breakage.

an intricate style in the morning, but there are

create from a simple ponytail. Starting out
your day a little more casual? A ponytail can
be dressed up by taking a small section of
hair from underneath, wrapping it around and
securing to cover your elastic. Heading to
work and want to make your style a little
more fun? A rope braid is created by dividing
your ponytail into two equal sections and
twisting them around each other and securing
at the end with an elastic. Going out in the
evening? A rope braid can be transformed
into a classy, elegant bun by wrapping the
braid around the base of the ponytail and
securing with a couple of pins. Voila! Three

industry! We are always striving to be the best we can be and it is all for you! Our team
had such a great time at the hair show - Even though it ended with the building catching
on fire and everyone being evactuated - Dont worry, everyone was safe! We have a few
new tricks for you all. What is coming in style this winter? For the natural clients,
blondes and stunning rich cherry reds are in. Kim Vo, a celebrity hairstylist who works
on Britney Spears, J-Lo and many more, has shared his technique with us on how to
soften the look of highlights with a service called smudging. Smudging will help to lift
your natural colour a bit so the highlights do not look so contrasting.
For the creative clients, yellows, greens and oranges seemed to be the hit colours are
this show. We now have our L'ANZA vibes orange and yellow and with all of our vibes
shades, we can mix any colours to create just about any colour in the spectrum. We
have no limits when it comes to your colour!! You will be seeing a lot of long hair layers
being cut with clippers, a technique shared with us by the wonderful Paul Mitchell
team. Hairstylist of the Year, L'ANZA's Matt Swinney has shared some great colour

Ombre, Sombre, Balayage
What's the
DIFFERENCE?
OMBRE
WE ARE HERE TO HELP
Ombre is a French term meaning "shadow". The
ombre technique for hair colour creates a dark root
fading into lighter ends. This look can create a
dramatic sun-kissed effect. In more recent trends,
ombre has taken a fun twist and the ends of the hair
are being coloured with creative rainbow hues.
SOMBRE
Sombre is the more subtle version of Ombre. The
technique still involves a root fading into a lighter end,
however the ends are slightly lifted to only 2-3 shades
lighter than the regriowth colour. This is an extremely
soft and very natural hair technique for those who need
to be conservative at work or just want a very subtle
change in their hair colour.

BALAYAGE
Balayage is a hand painted technique similar to Ombre,
however Balayage highlights tend to go higher up the
hair shaft to give more of a 'grown out highlight' effect.
Since Balayage highlights are less systematically
placed, you end up with fatter, less symmetrical, more
random highlights, resulting in a more casual, beachy
finish.
Why choose Ombre, Sombre or
Balayage?
We think these techniques look great on just about everyone, but they are especially
great for anyone who loves low maintenance looks. These techniques incorporate the
look of a root so you do not need to frequent the salon like before. Most clients who
choose this technique, freshen up this look about twice a year. Keep in mind that these
are 'open air' techniques - meaning they do not use foil to contain heat. Heat helps to
activate the prelightener on the hair so that the hair can lift a few extra shades. So, if
you start out as a brunette, do not expect to have light blonde ends after your first visit.
It may take a few appointments to achieve your desired lightness (if you are looking for
a drastic effect) but once the look is achieved, it does not need to be maintained nearly
as often as highlights. This saves you time and money, and allows you to look fabulous
all year long.

Let's talk about the hottest new hair colour technique in Hollywood, the Smudge. This
technique is perfect for blondes. In-between salon visits, blondes tend to see roots within 2
weeks and your colour can start to look unkept. A smudge is a quick 5 - 10 minute colour
service that quickly and gently lifts your regrowth colour 2 shades so that your roots
seamlessly blend into your colour. There is no harsh line of demarcation and your roots
literally look like they "smudge" into your ends. This is a perfect refresh service for blondes
that are not quite ready to complete a full colour service or do not have time to spend 2
hours in the salon just yet. A full smudge refresh service and blowout is complete in just
under an hour! You can also add a smudge to your highlight service. If you find there is a

GREY COVERAGE TIPS
If you decide to cover your greys here are some things you need to know.
Haircolour will only cover the hair already above the scalp. It will not permanently change
the colour of your hair from growing in grey. . Your hair grows EVERY DAY, so your greys can
start to show up again in as little as 2 weeks if your hair grows fast. On average, you will
need to be back in the salon every 4-6 weeks for a touchup.
But how can you get away with a longer time in-between salon visits? Highlights! The
lighter your hair is, the less noticeable the greys become. This will allow you to stretch out
your appointments an extra week or two.
But what if you do not want to see ANY grey and still want highlights? You can do a
highlight service and a colour in-between the foils. Book your next appointment 4-6 weeks
away and only touch up the growth with a colour at the salon, skip the highlights until next
time. This will help you save on your bill.
Other ways to save:
*Alternate between a full head of highlights and a partial head of highlights. You dont
always need to touch up the underneath of your hair. If there is a bit of root underneath, it
can still look natural and your wallet will thank you.
*A haircut is supposed to be done every 4-6 weeks but if you are on a budget, you can book
your haircut every other appointment, or split up your appointments. Do colour one week
and a haircut the next so you are not paying for everything all at once.
ALWAYS talk to your stylist about your budget. You don't
want any surprises at the register and we don't want you
going home and overspending on your budget. We can
work with you to create a look that stays within your
budget. It might not look exactly like the picture you bring
with you, but you will still leave looking and feeling great!
