Abortion has been made legal since several decades while the first pregnancy cancellation pill was
introduced in 1988. Since then, support and opposition for abortion has been aplenty. As pregnancy
cancellation is one topic that inspires heated debate, its ethical/moral/socio-economic and other
implications are widely discussed.
Every termination is different just as every circumstance that leads women to take such decision is
different.
Different reasons why woman would choose abortion

Not ready for taking the responsibility of bringing up a child
Socio-economic factors – No substantial financial backing to raise a kid
Personal matters – relationship problems/ possibility of becoming a single parent
Do not want another child
Result of Sexual violence
Threat to mother’s health
Baby suffering from incurable disease
Even if the reason for abortion might be the same, circumstance of the woman going through it might
still be different. That is why while some women may have guilt feeling afterwards, others feel relieved.
So is being relieved bad?
That is the question that is constantly debated among pro-life and pro-choice advocates.
The main subject of debate being, does personhood start at conception or at birth?

According to pro-life supporters, as soon as there is a possibility of a life, that is when the egg is
fertilized in the womb, it becomes a being that has its own rights. That means, the fetus
becomes a separate entity whose condition cannot be defined by the mother.

Pro-choice advocates argue that personhood does not come until after conception. As long as
the embryo is attached to the mother, she has the authority if she decides to continue the
pregnancy. Therefore, the fetus does not have a status yet to consider its own survival.
Should abortion be made illegal?
The FDA approved Mifepristone in 2000 and since then medical induced terminations are legal. Since
then access to abortion pills have also become easier. Nowadays you can buy Mifepristone online
