Students, faculty and staff of St. Joseph Catholic School in
Cottleville celebrated a Living Rosary this month, which is dedicated to
Mary, especially through the devotion of the rosary.
Giving public witness to their faith and devotion to our Blessed Mother, all
processed to church for
adoration of the Blessed
Sacrament, followed by
Benediction.
Holy Mary, Mother of
God, pray for us now,
and at the hour of our
death.
Amen.

Four freshman at St. Joseph’s Academy
have been granted special tuition awards for their
exceptional work in math and science while in
middle school.
The awards recognize excellence in these two of
the STEM categories. Students will continue their
work in the new digital innovation space at the
school.
These awards are renewable each year providing
they maintain the required GPA.

Ambassadors ready
for Catholic
Schools Week duties!
Last week, the first group of
middle-school trainees learned
leadership and communications
skills that are critical to
assuming the important role of
Student Ambassador!
To reinforce a kindergarten religion lesson
about taking care of the earth, Miss
Gallagher's kindergarteners and Mrs.
Coughlin's eighth graders spent time
weeding a very special playground at
St. Margaret Mary
Alacoque Catholic
School.
Twelve years ago, a tragic accident took
the lives of sixth grader, Jordan Finley,
and her brother, Zachary, a junior at St.
Mary's High School.
Mr. and Mrs. Finley built the playground
for the children of SMMA. Over the
summer the playground filled with weeds, so the kindergarteners invited the
older students to help them prepare the space for the new school year.
Bishop DuBourg High School’s freshmen Big History class got
a special visit from DB alum, Brother Bob Macke, SJ ’92, an astrophysicist at
the
Vatican
Observatory in
Rome, Italy!
Br. Bob, who
specializes in
the study of
meteorites,
discussed the
connections
between science
and religion and
the wonderment
of God’s grand
universe!
Over the last few years, Br. Bob has video-chatted with the students from his
office in Italy. This year he was able to make the trip and appear in person—
his first time back to his alma mater in many years!

Around the Archdiocese...
Valle Catholic School conducted a
personal needs drive for the local St. Vincent
DePaul Society food pantry during the month of
September in celebration of St. Vincent DePaul's
feast day, September 27.
We prayed for our dear pets,
especially on the Feast of St.
Francis of Assisi.
At St. Joan of Arc
Catholic School, eighth
graders organized the annual
pet blessing ceremony, which
can be a bit unruly.
The Vincentians, Daughters of Charity, and
Society of St. Vincent DePaul carry on the kind
of care for which the saint is well-known.
At right, fourth graders proudly carry the collected
items from the Valle Catholic Grade School to
the newly-renovated St.
Vincent DePaul pantry.
The food will be distributed locally to more than 100 families
in need.

Saint Joseph
Catholic
Elementary
School in
Manchester, hosted
a dress-down day in
support of Officer
Mike Flamion, Ballwin
police officer
injured on duty. The donations from the faculty, staff, and families of St. Joseph
totaled $800.00!
They look forward to presenting the check to the Ballwin Police Department along
with the many cards and letters the students wrote to Officer Flamion. Please join us
in keeping Officer Flamion and his family in your prayers.
Senora Carolina Rincon, St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Catholic
School Spanish teacher, invited Lucas Almeida, soccer player from Ambush-
Heritage Chile & Brazilian, to speak with the
SMMA students about his faith and his life story.
Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, Lucas is
speaking about the cultures of Chile and Brazil.
In appreciation, SMMA students brought in donations
to Pan y Amor, an organization that supports
impoverished children.
