ONLINE SUBMISSION OF<br />

SESSIONS FOR 2017 UNION<br />

WORLD CONFERENCE<br />

The 48th Union World Conference on Lung Health will take place<br />

in Guadalajara, Mexico from 11—14 October 2017. Online submission<br />

of abstracts and sessions (symposia, workshops, and post-graduate<br />

courses) to be included in the scientific and community programme<br />

of the conference will open in January 2017.<br />

The conference theme is ‘Accelerating Toward Elimination’.<br />

We welcome you to submit sessions and/or abstracts related to<br />

TB, HIV, tobacco control or adult and child lung health.<br />

WHO: Any interested person may submit a proposal for a session<br />

or abstract. Union membership is not required. We encourage<br />

submissions from scientists, clinicians, public health specialists,<br />

affected communities and other members of civil society.<br />

WHAT: All proposed sessions and abstracts must be related<br />

to lung health.<br />

HOW: Please read the guidelines carefully before submitting. The<br />

Union is committed to promoting person-centred, non-stigmatising<br />

language in conference abstracts and presentations, and therefore<br />

requests that you follow the guidance laid out in the Stop TB<br />

Partnership’s publication, United to end TB: every word counts.<br />

If you need assistance in preparing your abstract, you are invited<br />

to work with our Abstract Mentor Programme. This programme is<br />

designed to support new and less experienced researchers and<br />

implementers who hope to present their work at the conference.<br />

All submitted abstracts and sessions will be peer-reviewed. Abstracts<br />

will be reviewed by a minimum of three individuals with expertise in<br />

the specific technical area. Members of the Coordinating Committee<br />

of Scientific Activities will review Sessions.<br />
