Visiting Big Thief’s ‘Paul’
In our first issue of 4.52am, we had the
delight that is featuring the stupendously
talented, frosty cool indie country queen
Julia Jacklin as both our cover star and
opening act. Hers is one special album, that
if you haven’t already listened too you
should be talking to Santana about, for a
Christmas morning delivery.
(My kids are still convinced Santana delivers
the pressies, so shh. It is a special time and
he is forever Smooth in this house.)
Anyway, do you think Julia has been around
for a cuppa since? Nope, haven’t seen hide
nor hair of her, we were really getting quite
frantic about it all, but as luck would have it,
it seems that she has been working hard
and has delivered a present of her own in
the shape of a cover of Big Thief’s quite
uber cool song ‘Paul’.
Now normally I’m not one to spoil a
surprise, but I think just this once we can
let you open your present early. It seems
the least we can do.
Julia’s album ‘Don’t Let The Kids Win’ is
still available over Here if you are short of
Christmas ideas of your own. It is
achingly beautiful, in all the old familiar
places.
