BRUSHES
The Next Generation
Refinishing Hardwood • Heavy Duty Stripping
Degreasing Concrete •Deburr Wood Scrubbing
Decontaminate Surfaces • Acid/Caustic Scrubbing
• Our “Carbo BRUSHES” span a large range of cleaning opportunities.
• Ceramic grits offer the premier quality abrasive grits impregnated into chemical resistant nylon bristles that are
crimped and self replenishing as the brush wears, guaranteeing unmatched quality & durability.
• Water feed DuraBlock for extended life.
• Carbo BRUSHES won’t gum up or clog like pads, discs or screens.
• Use less chemicals for stripping, degreasing and abrading • Last 100 times longer than pads.
• Bristle filaments range from .018” diameter (softest) to .065” diameter (hardest).
• Small filaments with smaller grits produce softer, finer finishes.
• Larger, more rigid filaments with coarser, larger grits enable greater force and pressure applied to the surface.
• Grits range from 46 (aggressive) to 500 (polish). As the grit increases, the brush gets softer, to work on uneven surfaces.
• 46 grit brushes replace black pads and are as aggressive as sandpaper.
• 500 grit brushes can replace white pads to achieve a soft polish.
Polishing 101
Aggregate hardness is one important factor
when cutting concrete. Because hard
aggregate dulls diamond grit more quickly,
segment bonds generally need to be softer
when cutting hard aggregate.
This allows the segment to wear normally and
bring new sharp diamond grit to the surface.
Softer aggregate will not dull diamond grit as
quickly, so harder segment bonds are needed
to hold the diamond in place long enough to
use their full potential.
Most aggregates fall into the 2 to 9 range on
the Mohs’ scale.
Some commonly used aggregates measure
this was on the Mohs’ scale.
The concept is simple: 1. Remove any adhesive seal, paint, oil, grease, etc. from area to be polished. 2. Grind the floor flat, exposing some aggregate, removing any imperfections and broom
marks, filling cracks. Then use finer and finer grits to hone out the coarse scratches left from the 2 steps; in total, there are 12 steps, including maintenance. Most jobs have budgets or
limitations for time and labor, therefore 12 steps is impractical. Many times we must adjust our procedures and expectations to meet the budget. For steps 2-4, use metal diamonds to expose
aggregate and save scratching. These steps are time-consuming and diamonds are the more expensive variety. By eliminating some of these steps, you save money but sacrifice final quality.
You may also eliminate steps 9-12 (these are the gloss steps), leaving the customer with a semi-satin gloss floor. However, by leaving out both of these, you have reduced the customer’s cost
by 75%. The purpose of each sequential cut is to remove the scratches generated by the previous cut. Skipping a cut causes many of those scratches to remain in the final product.
Creating a Polished Concrete Floor
▲
utilize the same technology &
diamonds as the large mechanical grinders and polishers.
Ceno applies the diamonds to an industrial floor pad, making it
simple for the average maintenance crew
with standard floor machines to refresh a
floor to the original gloss or higher.
• Gives new life to dull or worn out
concrete floors
• High Performance Diamond Coated Pads
yield great results with less labor, no special
equipment or training, and no chemicals.
• No need for sealers or finishes that need to
be stripped and refinished every 6 months
• Pads contain millions of microscopic diamonds
• Pads have wear indicators making it easy for
the operator to know when to replace them.
• Great on concrete, marble, granite, limestone.
Cleaning the floor prior to Diamond Polishing is essential. Removing
any glue, paint seals and coatings will not only save time, but money
as well. Using Diamond Pads to repair the floor can be expensive.
