Police Reports<br />

Two females charged with<br />

possession of cannabis<br />

Anastasia L. Brown, 19,<br />

of Round Lake, and Caroline<br />

L. Carani, of the 800<br />

block of Lake Forest, were<br />

charged with possession of<br />

cannabis at 7:01 p.m. on<br />

Oct. 24 in the 700 block<br />

of N. Western Ave. in Lake<br />

Forest.<br />

Police received a call<br />

advising there was a suspicious<br />

vehicle occupied by<br />

two people and it appeared<br />

they were smoking cannabis.<br />

Police located a white<br />

Chevrolet occupied by<br />

Brown and Carani. When<br />

they knocked on the vehicle<br />

window and the driver<br />

rolled down the window,<br />

the smell of burnt cannabis<br />

was clearly detected by the<br />

officers on the scene.<br />

Brown and Carani admitted<br />

to the officers there<br />

was cannabis in the vehicle,<br />

which officers later<br />

recovered.<br />

LAKE BLUFF:<br />

Oct. 21<br />

• A $500 money gram was<br />

reported lost or stolen at<br />

12:54 p.m. in the 0-100<br />

block of Sherwood Terrace.<br />

Oct. 19<br />

• Four political signs were<br />

missing at 12:52 p.m. in<br />

the 200 block of E. Sheridan<br />

Road.<br />

Oct. 17<br />

• A hit-and-run was reported<br />

at 4:41 p.m. at the Public<br />

Services Building. The<br />

officer was able to locate<br />

all parties involved.<br />

LAKE FOREST:<br />

Oct. 24<br />

• Michael C.J. Davis, 24, of<br />

the 1300 block of N. Western<br />

Ave., was charged with<br />

violation of an order of protection<br />

at 4:17 p.m. in the<br />

1300 block of N. Western<br />

Ave. Police investigated<br />

a compliant concerning<br />

a violation of an existing<br />

order of protection taken<br />

out against Davis from a<br />

female college student. As<br />

part of the investigation police<br />

interviewed Davis and<br />

obtained a confession that<br />

he had knowingly, through<br />

his actions, violated the order<br />

of protection.<br />

Oct. 23<br />

• Jose A. Aponte, 19, of<br />

Waukegan, was charged<br />

with speeding, driving<br />

with a suspended driver’s<br />

license and no valid insurance<br />

at 8:14 a.m. Officers<br />

observed Aponte in<br />

a green SUV traveling at<br />

a high rate of speed and<br />

were able to determine, by<br />

radar, the vehicle was traveling<br />

at 90 mph in a posted<br />

55 mph speed zone.<br />

• Roberto Arreola, 35,<br />

of Blue Island, Ill., was<br />

charged with possession of<br />

a controlled substance at<br />

1:18 a.m. at the East Train<br />

Depot. Officers spoke to<br />

Arreola at the train depot<br />

and determined he had<br />

prescription medication<br />

belonging to someone else.<br />

Arreola was also wanted on<br />

a warrant from Cook Country<br />

for failure to appear.<br />

Oct. 22<br />

• Jose L. Patino-Hernandez,<br />

33, of Waukegan, was<br />

charged with no valid driver’s<br />

license at 8:16 a.m.<br />

Officers on routine patrol<br />

observed a pickup truck<br />

disregard a traffic control<br />

device as a result police<br />

stopped the vehicle for the<br />

traffic violation.<br />

Oct. 18<br />

• Leonard F. Grasso, 64, of<br />

Northbrook, was charged<br />

with disorderly conduct at<br />

5:32 p.m. in the intersection<br />

of Route 41 and Old<br />

Elm Road. Police were<br />

dispatched after receiving<br />

a report of an incident<br />

involving a driver pointing<br />

a small black gun at<br />

another driver. The victim<br />

was driving southbound on<br />

Route 41 when a vehicle<br />

was swerving in traffic<br />

and when he was almost<br />

struck he honked his horn<br />

at the car. Grasso pulled<br />

beside the victims car and<br />

extended his right arm in<br />

the victims direction and<br />

pointed a black object that<br />

appeared to be a handgun<br />

straight at the victim. The<br />

victim applied his brakes<br />

and called 911 and followed<br />

Grasso at a safe distance.<br />

Grasso was given a<br />

December court date.<br />

Jogger victim of battery on Lake Bluff bike path<br />

A 44-year-old North Chicago<br />

woman was jogging<br />

along the Robert McClory<br />

Bike Path in Lake Bluff<br />

when she was approached<br />

by a male who pushed her<br />

to the ground around 7<br />

p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25.<br />

The woman was jogging<br />

along the path north of East<br />

Blodgett Avenue.<br />

She had minor injuries<br />

and refused medical treatment.<br />

The woman described<br />

the male to be 35-40 years<br />

old, approximately 5 feet 7<br />

inches tall, average set with<br />

longer hair, and was possibly<br />

wearing a hat and a<br />

jacket.<br />

The victim screamed and<br />

frightened off the suspect,<br />

who then fled east to enter<br />

the driver’s side of a pickup<br />

truck and drove north<br />

on Sheridan Road toward<br />

North Chicago. The woman<br />

was unable to get a description<br />

of the truck.<br />

The Lake Bluff Police Department<br />

are investigating<br />

the battery. Police are asking<br />

anyone who may have been<br />

in the area to contact the Police<br />

Department if they observed<br />

anything along Sheridan<br />

Road around 7 p.m. on<br />

Tuesday, Oct. 25.<br />

The Lake Bluff Police<br />

Department will have an<br />

increased presence in the<br />

area and will conduct directed<br />

patrols on the trail.<br />

when you are on the trail,<br />

your route and when you<br />

expect to return.<br />

• Walk, run or bike when<br />

the path or trail is likely to<br />

have a higher volume of<br />

foot traffic.<br />

• Avoid using paths or<br />

trails when it is dark outside.<br />

• Carry a cellphone.<br />

Residents are encouraged<br />

to report any suspicious<br />

activity by calling<br />

Police investigate registered sex offender at pre-school<br />

Staff Report<br />

The Lake Forest Police<br />

Department received a<br />

complaint regarding concerns<br />

of a male registered<br />

sex offender volunteering<br />

at a church in the 700<br />

block of Sheridan Road<br />

on Oct. 24.<br />

The complaint was<br />

made due to the subject’s<br />

close proximity to the<br />

church’s pre-school.<br />

As of Oct. 24 the male<br />

From oct. 26<br />

does not work or volunteer<br />

at the church.<br />

There is no indication<br />

the subject had access or<br />

contact with any of the<br />

children at the pre-school.<br />

The Police Department is<br />

gathering statements from<br />

the involved parties and are<br />

investigating any potential<br />

violations of the registered<br />

sex offender statues to determine<br />

if any criminal<br />

charges should be made.<br />
