Find out how a giant robotic chameleon reels in a meal, a huge mechanical fly strolls on the ceiling and a grasshopper gets air! See page 2. Happy RetroGeeky Holidays! Friday, December 2 5:30 – 7:30 pm • Bring your family to see vintage Star Wars toys. • Discover The Robot Zoo, an exhibit that has been in museums all over the world. • Take a selfie with some vintage TV robot standups. • Kids can make holiday gifts for their parents. • This event kicks off the Elgin Downtown Neighborhood Association’s Winter Wonderland event that takes place from 3 to 7 pm on Saturday, December 3. Star Wars: The Nostalgia Awakens Vintage Toy Talk Tuesday, November 22 7 – 8 pm Second Floor Owner of the Star Wars Vintage Toy Exhibit, Jarrod Roll, talks about Star Wars and its impact on the toy industry as well as collecting vintage toys. He will talk about his collection on the second floor, where it will be on display. Star Wars: The Nostalgia Awakens Vintage Toy Exhibit November 22 – December 30 May the toys be with you! This exhibit features every action figure toy made by Kenner from 1978 to 1985 based on the original three Star Wars movies, Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. It includes 100 unique action figures, 3 larger creatures, 19 vehicles and 13 playsets and more. Don’t miss the Millennium Falcon spaceship and Death Star playset! Make Someone Happy with Author Elizabeth Berg Sunday, December 11 2 – 4 pm Author Elizabeth Berg returns to talk about her new book, Make Someone Happy. She will also present her 2006 retelling of the Christmas story, The Handmaid and The Carpenter. Join us for light refreshments, lively conversation and Berg’s warmhearted wit and wisdom. Make Someone Happy and Berg’s other books will be available for purchase and signing. Meadows Community Rooms. R Manufacture Your Future: Robotics! Thursday, November 15 4 – 7 pm Discover local manufacturers that are part of the automation future. Representatives will be on hand to answer your questions. ACME Design, OTTO Engineering and Hoffer Plastics Corporation are some of the manufacturers that will have representatives available to talk about their products and careers in manufacturing.
