Maverick Holiday Party
by Matt Platts
Our hosts Jan, Lisa, and Nieman Walker opened their
beautiful home for the 2003 annual holiday party. The
Walker house provided a wonderful setting with plenty
of room for everyone to relax. Maverick’s quickly discovered
Jay’s garage, filled with fine examples of German precision and
american muscle. The garage was decorated with memorabilia
...I could have spent my entire visit
in the “play area”...
including posters, models, and 1/64th scale car collections. Just
around the corner from the garage was the incredible home
theater with a pool table and wet bar nearby. I could have spent my
entire visit in the “play area” and not been disappointed at all.
The living room was the most popular place to socialize
The “living area” of the Walker’s house was just as impressive. The newly
remodeled kitchen was incredible, stainless steel everywhere! Joe McGlohen
had plenty of room to spread
out his signature barbeque
and trimmings. Maverick
members all provided side
dishes and deserts - there were
two large tables covered with
wonderful dishes, salads, and
special creations. Another table
out in the sun room had a
delectable array of deserts.
I did my best to sample everything,
but try as I might, there
was just too much food!
I would like to extend a
special thanks to the Walkers
for inviting us into their
home. Joe McGlohen should
be commended once again for
his barbeque, and thanks to
Mimi Spreen for tracking the
RSVP’s and coordinating the
One of the Walker’s 9 Christmas trees other dishes.
Finding a place to sit among all the food was challenging at times
