the blue shirts – yes, those are
our Advanced Instructors – AI –
not to be confused with artificial
intelligence – yes, they are smart
and wow, can they drive.
Jan Mayo, our grid queen,
kept everyone safe as they
headed out of grid to the track.
We overused the message
board, unfortunately, yet how
happy we were to have a way to
communicate on grid of the ever changing track conditions.
Lisa Steele and Andrea Bell made sure we had fantastic
lunches and snacks on the tables. And those coolers were
always full of assorted beverages so we stayed hydrated and
happy.
The weather is
about the only not
wonderful aspect
of the weekend
so that’s North
Texas in March.
The thermometer
said 62 degrees,
however with
All smiles from Angie, Kurt, Lori, & Bryan
Seeing the advanced group on track is altogether something different
the clouds and wind, many of us needed a jacket. In the
words of Chief Driving Instructor for Eagles Canyon Bryan
Henderson; “this is the worst good weather day we’ve had
out here.” So what made us appreciate the Saturday weather?
Sunday weather, the rain arrived for the first run group and
stayed all day. Many drivers spent the morning learning the
‘Art of racing in the rain’ (a great book by the same title
would have been a good way to spend the rest of the day.)
The rain shortened our time on the track on Sunday, but not
our fun. Lots of bench racing in the club house and on the
deck.
Special thanks go out to Autobahn for their sponsorship
that started our driving season. We hope to see many of you
back again at our April Driver Education event at Motorsport
Ranch on the long course.
