Ok, the changes in my life over the
next several months are going to
take a bit of getting used to. I am
really going to miss hearing “Hail to the
Chief ” whenever I walk into a room. I
have grown quite fond of some of my
secret service agents (especially the one
with the long hair and Bambi eyelashes
[just kidding, Judy]). The political junkets were fun too,
and the pay was quite generous. I do think Judy is getting
kind of sick of referring to me as “Mr. President.” Lately
she has been adding some pretty disturbing adjectives. After
December, I will become just another John Q. Maverick.
All good things must come to an end.
I consider it a privilege to have served as the Region’s
President for the last two years. The Region just keeps
getting stronger and stronger because of the awesome
people who put their time and effort into making this a
fun organization. Another exciting thing about this club is
the number of new faces we are seeing. Almost all of our
leadership positions have changed in the last 2 years. New
people spark new ideas.
Slipstream, under Richard Bradley’s guidance continues
to get better and better. Take a look at a 2008 issue, and
compare it to today. Wow! Bigger, new features,
great event ads, and COLOR! It takes a whole
team of volunteers to keep this award winning
newsletter going. We did some marvelous things
with the Hope House, our Social Events, Sunday
Drives and Happy Hours as well. Our driving
events remain “second to none!”
I want to thank everyone who made this an easy
job for me. There are so many who have done so
much in all our activities. With the new slate of
officers I believe we will keep getting even better.
Hey everyone, thanks for all you do, and I will
see ya’ll next year.
For being the Maverick of the Month, The Silver Fox in
Grapevine is giving James dinner for two at their award
winning steak house.

Please congratulate James Shoffit. Our latest
Mav of the Month. James is everywhere. Driving
events, lunches, socials, and at many of our board
meetings. James also is a tremendous help to us
in his role as Zone 5 Representative.
