The Community Helps Out
The Boy Scout food drive to restock
Western Fairfax Christian
Ministries’ (WFCM) food pantry
was Saturday, Nov. 12.
The Scouts collected nearly 65,000 pounds
of food donated by the community and
sorted it along with Girl Scouts, students
and others.
“This is a phenomenal achievement for a
one-day collection, and we really appreciate
the generosity of the people in our community,
said Michael Adere, the food drive’s
organizer.
“Almost 900 Boy Scouts, plus over 700 other
volunteers, participated. They got to experience
what it’s like to give back to their
community — and the people receiving this
food might even be their next-door neighbors.”
