I) Bending strength in the air-dry condi on, High.<br />
ii) Hardness & Resistance to applied loads, High.<br />
iii) Strength in compression parallel to grain, High.<br />
iv) Resistance to den ng, High<br />
v) Desnsity<br />
vi) Very resistant to African termites<br />
vii) Can be used outdoor as well as indoor.<br />
At <strong>DAC</strong> Africa, our choice of wood has narrowed down to the Mvule variety.<br />
Mvule is comparable to Teak (Tectona grandis ) in most ways ie. strength<br />
proper es, including hardness and resistance to applied loads. It resists<br />
den ng and marring about as well as white oak or birch. It is a very heavy<br />
wood, and is high in density.<br />
Mvule has been used as an alterna ve to Teak in many applica ons, and<br />
comes with many advantages over the more commonly used mahogany<br />
variety. Where mahogany will warp due to a high moisture environment,<br />
Mvule will retain its form very well, and where the price of Teak may be<br />
restric ve to developers and home owners, Mvule will provide all the same<br />
characteris cs at a more accessible price.<br />
Perhaps our most important considera on is the sustainability of the raw<br />
material. Environmental awareness and responsible cra smanship have<br />
ensured that we all can enjoy great quality wooden products without<br />
endangering the environment through irresponsible logging.<br />
