18 FDP / WORKSHOPS / GUEST LECTURES An unending Thirst for Knowledge Acquisition A QUARTERLY NEWS PUBLICATION FROM SRI VISHNU EDUCATIONAL SOCIETY CHIP DESIGNING A five day faculty development program on “Structural & Foundation Analysis” was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering of Sri Vishnu Engineering College for Women from 25th July ,2016 to 29th July,2016 , resource person was Mr.Satadru Chowdary from Skyfilabs, Bengaluru and was coordinated by Mr.P.Janaki Rama Raju, Associate Professor . A five day faculty development program on “Structural & Foundation Analysis” was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering of Sri Vishnu Engineering College for Women from 25th July ,2016 to 29th July,2016 , resource person was Mr.Satadru Chowdary from Skyfilabs, Bengaluru and was coordinate by Mr.P.Janaki Rama Raju, Associate Professor . A five day workshop on “Analog Integrated Circuit Design and ASIC Implementation using Cadence EDA Tools” was organised by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering under the guidance of Dr. G.R.L.V.N. Srinivasa Raju from 6th June 2016 to 10th June 2016 under TEQIP-II for in-house faculty and also for the faculty of other Engineering Colleges. The objective of the program was to impart both theoretical and practical knowledge. SPEECH RECOGNITION A three Day Workshop on “Speech Recognition” was organized by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering from 21 to 23 July 2016 Under TEQIP -II. Vice Principal Dr.P.Srinivasa Raju, along with coordinators Dr.K.Pushpa and Mr.M.V.Ganeswara Rao and Resource person Dr.V.Anil Kumar from IIIT Hyderabad and Mr.A.K.N.R.K.Raju were present. Department of Mechanical Engineering conducted a workshop on “the latest developments in the areas of thermal Engineering with special impetus on CFD, Heat Transfer & Gas Turbines”. The objective of the workshop was to create awareness among young Mechanical Engineers about the current advances of research and importance of the knowledge of solving real life and industrial problems in the process of achieving the individual, collective and societal goals with sustainable technology, processes and products. Resource Persons were Prof. B.V.S.S.S. Prasad from IIT Madras, Sri.V.F. Saji, Scientist D, NSTL and Dr.K.N Malleswara Rao from VRSEC. TOTAL STATION SURVEYING The Department of Civil Engineering conducted a student workshop on “Total station surveying” from 11th - 14 July 2016. The Resource persons were Mr.P.Prasanareeraju, Mr.V.Nagagopi, Mr.Macherla Sridhar, Mr. S.Ashok Kumar, Mr. Yalla Raju and Mr.Ketha Anjaneya Swamy from Nishita Technologies, Vijayawada and was coordinated by Mr.B.Venkatesh, Assistant professor. The objective of this workshop was to give hands-on practice for II & III year B.Tech Civil students AN INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO VEMAGIRI GRID SUBSTATION A five day faculty development program on “Structural & Foundation Analysis” was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering of Sri Vishnu Engineering College for Women from 25th July ,2016 to 29th July,2016 , resource person was Mr.Satadru Chowdary from Skyfilabs, Bengaluru and was coordinate by Mr.P.Janaki Rama Raju, Associate Professor . A FEATHER IN THE CAP Dr. Sankar Peddapati, Associate professor, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, received Early Career Research Award Grant from Science and Engineering Research Board, DST for the project titled “Photovoltaic based Pumping system using multi-level inverter”. Dr.P.V.V.Rama Rao, HoD, EEE Dept was on the panel of judges for “RCE TECH FEST-2016” organized by Ramachandra College of Engineering, Eluru.

ISSUE 13 OCTOBER 2016 PARENTS ASSEMBLAGE Smt. B. Seetha Polytechnic College conducted a meet with first year students' parents on 23 June 2016 at 9am in Smt. B. Seetha Indoor Auditorium. Dr. D. Suryanarayana, Director of SBSP and Sri D.V. Subba Rao, Principal of SBSP addressed the gathering and gave their inspiring thoughts and valuable suggestions. The students who got the best result in the first year were awarded on this event. SOLAR POWER SURYAMITHRA IOM PROFESSIONAL Solar Skill Development Program was inaugurated on 23 June 2016 at the colloquium of SVES. This program was organized by Smt. B. Seetha Polytechnic College in association with NREDCAP and NISE. It was sponsored by MNRE & NISE under the guidance and monitoring of NREDCAP. Sri Kamalakar Babu, Vice-Chairman & Managing Director of NREDCAP, was the chief guest of this event. The main motto of this program is to develop the skills in the students. Suryamithra is giving not only free training for students giving but also better employment opportunities. Sri D.V. Prasad, Executive Engineer of NREDCAP, Sri Shekhar Maram Raju, Solar Program Director, Sri D.V. Subba Rao, Principal of SBSP, Sri M.V.Hussain, Vice Principal, and Sri B.S. Satish Chandra, Head-EEE department and all the faculty and the students participated in this program. 19 BEYOND THE CURRICULUM Smt. B. Seetha Polytechnic conducts intracollege monthly activities for the students of SBSP to improve their communication and presentation skills and to inject competitive spirit. On 27 July 2016, an “ESSAY WRITING” competition and on 29 August 2016 a “JUST A MINUTE” session were conducted. Ms. N. Ramya Sree, Mr. G.S.C.D. Vinay and Mr. K. Vinay Raja received 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively in essay writing. Sri D.V.Subbarao, Principal and Sri M.V.Hussain, Vice Principal and Sri P. Nageswara Rao, HOD of Basic Sciences distributed the prizes. Mr. Aditya, Ms. Y. Tejaswini and Ms. D.K. Chandra received 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively in JAM by the Principal, HOD and the respective faculty members. Mr. N. Pavan Kumar and Ms. N. Tulasi, Assistant Professors of English, Vishnu Institute of Technology acted as the judges for Just a Minute session. Serving the Needy SEETHA UNITED HANDS (SUH) B. Rangababu studied Diploma ECE Branch in SBSP during the academic years 2013-2016. Unfortunately he has been suffering from cancer. The students of SBSP collected an amount of Rs. 12,000/- under Seetha United Hands (SUH). The total collected amount was contributed to his parents by Seetha United Hands Team on 27 July 2016.
