FOR THE GOOD OF LAKEVILLE
Look around. Are you proud of our Community? The Lakeville Community
can only be as good as those who live here. The Community in general
looks good and many people comment on that fact. Just think how much
better it could look if we all pitched in to help. This means volunteering
and working with the Board, the Management Company, keeping your
property in good condition, pay your assessments on time and serving
on Committees. With this kind of cooperation Lakeville will look even
better and be safer. Our property values will continue to increase and we
would have a Community we can all be proud to call Home. Please step
up, contact Spectrum or the Board and let them know you care. Thanks.
DEED RESTRICTIONS REMINDERS
Garage Sales: Did you know? Two garage sales a year is the limit under
Texas Law. The Limited Sales, Excise and Use Tax Act says that people
who are not operating a business are permitted to have no more than
two sales of their goods each year. If you exceed this amount, you will
be treated as operating a business and you’ll need to obtain a sales tax
permit from the state. A quick Internet search reveals that a number of
Texas cities also have ordinances limiting garage sales and some don’t
allow them at all. Houston has no such ordinance, however, according to
the city’s website. Instead, the city relies on the state law. Businesses are
not allowed in the community.
Trash Can Containers: Trash cans and Trash are to be out of site and
remain out of view at all times, it takes away from property values.
Street Curbs: Curbs are homeowners’ responsibility to keep clean and
free of debris, (i.e. leaves and trash). Keeping these clean will ensure less
street flooding, trash being forced down and clogging sewer drains.
Oil Stains: If you’re having difficulties getting the oil and grease stains
out from your driveway, there are a few mixtures you can buy at an auto
part store that is less than $10. These mixtures will help get the oil and
grease stains in your driveway.
Streetlights: HOA Assessments pay for streetlights, please report
streetlight outages to: www.centerpointenergy.com/services/electricity/
residential/reportastreetlightoutage, you will need the six digit streetlight
pole number and a nearby address when filing out the on line report.
PETS
Did you know that all pets that reside in Harris County must be registered?
You can register your pet on-line at www.countypets.com.
SCOOP YOUR PET’S POOP
Please remember to be respectful of your neighbors’ yards and the
community grounds. When you take your pet for a walk, come prepared
with a scooper and a recycled grocery bag or anything else. If your pet
poops during your walk, please scoop and trash. It may not be the most
fabulous way to walk your pet, but it does show that you respect your
fellow neighbors’ and our beautiful community.
HARRIS COUNTY LEASH LAW
Animals that are not properly restrained pose a threat to all our residents.
While you may know your pet is friendly, an animal running at someone
who is walking by is very scary for that person. Many children are afraid
of animals and become frightened, which could result in the child
getting hurt trying to avoid the animal. Harris County Animal Control
advises, “All dogs and cats must be kept under restraint while in the
unincorporated areas of Harris County, Texas. The custodian of a dog or
cat is not authorized to have, harbor or keep any unlicensed dog or cat,
nor to allow any dog or cat to become a stray.”
Restraint is defined as “the control of a dog or cat under the following
circumstances:
1. When it is controlled by a line or leash not more than six (6) feet in
length, if the line or leash is held by a human being, who is capable of
controlling or governing the dog or cat in question
2. When it is within a fully enclosed vehicle
3. When it is on the premise of the custodian and the animal does not
have access to sidewalk or street.”
While it may be nice to have your animal out in the yard while you work
or play, it is against the law, unless the animal is properly restrained.
Let’s all help keep our community a safe and comfortable place for all
our residents by being responsible pet owners. This will not only protect
anyone who may be walking or bicycling in the area, but also the pet
owner who could be held legally responsible or possibly sued for failing
to properly restrain their pet.
To make a complaint or report an animal that is not properly restrained
please contact:
19 TH ANNUAL SALUTE TO THE STARS GALA
The Cy-Fair Educational Foundation held its 19 th Annual Salute to the
Stars Gala in honor of Cypress Fairbanks ISD’s 2015-2016 Spotlight
Teachers on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at The Berry Center.
The evening included performances by the Cypress Creek High School
Drumline and the CFISD District Chamber Choir. Butch Milks announced the
Spotlight Teachers as Dr. Henry personally thanked each for their dedication
to the students of CFISD. As they left the stage, Marie Holmes and Lauri Baker
presented each with a gift and congratulations from the Cy-Fair Educational
Foundation. Lifelong Cy-Fair resident and Cy-Fair Educational Foundation
Trustee, Robert Adam, delivered the keynote speech recognizing this year’s
Spotlight Teachers for their outstanding accomplishments and highlighting
the Foundation for its contribution to Today’s Students - Tomorrow’s Future.
Co-Chairs Lauri Baker and Darlene Hajduk presented Dr. Henry with a check
for $93,025.69 from the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation for innovative staff
development grants. After a successful live auction, the evening closed with
the announcement of three lucky teachers who were awarded cash gifts.
The evening was a tremendous success. The Spotlight Teachers walked
away with gifts from the Foundation, including the beautiful orchid
centerpieces and guests were excited to win one of 132 raffle gift baskets.
Salute to the Stars has raised over $2 million for innovative staff
development grants for district teachers and instructional leaders,
and scholarships for graduating seniors. The Cy-Fair Educational
Foundation was established in 1970 as a non-profit to raise money to
fund a scholarship for high school graduates in the area. Over the past
46 years, the Foundation has grown tremendously through the efforts of
the Board of Trustees and the generosity of the Cy-Fair Community. The
Foundation has awarded over $7 million in scholarships to more than
1,400 graduating seniors. CFEF is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, all
contributions are tax deductible as allowed by the law.
Next year’s Salute to the Stars Gala will be held on Thursday, October
19, 2017. For more information, please contact Marie Holmes at marie@
thecfef.org, 281-370-0144 or visit our website at www.TheCFEF.org.
