A second-round draft choice of the Eagles in 2012,
the speedy and instinctive Mychal Kendricks was
immediately inserted as a starter on the Eagles
defense in his rookie campaign and has since
developed into one of the unit’s top playmakers,
signing a four-year extension in 2015 that will keep
him in Philly through the 2019 season. Prior to
entering the NFL, he was named the 2011 Pac-12
Defensive Player of the Year at Cal.

• Mychal’s father, Marvin, was on the Eagles training
camp roster in 1972 after playing college football
at UCLA, where he led the Bruins in rushing twice
in 1970 and 1971. Said Mychal: “He was so happy
the day I got drafted here because the Eagles were
his team. I remember being so excited, but he may
have even been more excited. He followed them all
the time when I was growing up. It was a dream
come true for the both of us.”
• Began playing football in the 8th grade for the
Wawona Wildcats as a safety and fullback
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
• Is one of only three Eagles since 1982 to post at
least four sacks and three interceptions in a single
season, recording four sacks and three picks in
2013. Joined Williams Thomas (1996) and Seth
Joyner (1991 and ‘92) as the only other Eagles to
accomplish the feat
• In 2013, he and DeMeco Ryans became the first pair
of linebackers in Eagles history to post 4+ sacks
and 2+ interceptions in the same season

Mychal’s younger brother, Eric, was a secondround
draft pick of the Minnesota Vikings in 2015.
They grew up playing football, basketball and
soccer together and remain very close to this day.
